Per WYMT. Justin Haddix leaves Perry County Central to take over the helm at Corbin.

I believe they made a good hire in Haddix.:thumb:

I have no idea why he left but I do believe winning a 3A title would be easier than capturing the 5A title.

Tough blow for the Commodores. Haddix will be hard to replace. Any word on who will be the next HC at PCC?

Corbin faithful probably humbled by this a little. They didn't get the interest from big names they were expecting, and they hired a guy with about a 500 record in the end. He will do well but in the end I bet deep down they regret putting the screws to a proven coach.

I spoke with some Hazard folks today. I'm hearing John Chapman (Pike Central) is the front runner. IMO would be a great hire for PCC if they could get him.

I would have to agree with you. Don't think Corbin is as good a job as they think.

Chapman is a good coach, especially defensively. He rubs a lot of people the wrong way, and he has had some run-ins with the KHSAA rules. If PCC wants to win badly enough to accept it, then he would probably be successful there.

Does he still live in Jackson? Going to PCC & Hazard would definitely be a bit of a drive, but a lot shorter than that hour-hour and half drive he has everyday now.

 

Speaking of the PCC he is at now, why is it that they seem to have the short end of the stick facility wise when it comes to those around them? Pikeville, Shelby Valley, Belfry..all turfed up, etc. Granted, I know Pikeville is their own school system. Just curious.

When Pike Central was built, they had better facilities than any school in the Pike County School System. They still have better facilities than Phelps and comparable to East Ridge.

 

Pikeville doesn't own their facilities, the city does. It is shared by Pikeville HS and University of Pikeville.

 

Belfry raised the money privately for their turf field when the new school was built in 2005, the Pike County BOE didn't pay any money towards it. In fact it saved the BOE money because they didn't have to pay for the natural grass surface that was in the budget.

 

I think Shelby Valley raised a portion of the money for their turf, but I'm not sure how much of it.

Back on topic, how many years was Haddix at PCC and what was his record?

 

Didn't he bring a big change in style to their team and wasn't his tenure considered successful?

Really surprised by this hire.
