I wouldn't call corbin a "basketball" school

 

Corbin may now be known as a golf and tennis school in this part of the state. They did just win their 14th consecutive Regional Championship in tennis.

I think 6-4. Runner up in the district.

He will do fine. Great coach. People get caught up in this record stuff way too much. So many programs, PCC for one, are just so up and down when it comes to the bodies they have to work with. PCC is the 2nd tier program in that county, and I don't see that changing for sometime. The fact that he left PCC with a winning record, playoff win (first ever in schools history), etc...tells me all I need to know.

 

Kind of like I've heard coaches in Georgia say about KY guys that end up going down there, "If he can win at all in Kentucky, he can coach." If you can win at a school like PCC (and, no offense here, 80% of the schools in KY are like PCC..middle of the road programs), then he will be able to win at Corbin.

 

 

Heard a coach in South Carolina say to a coach I know in KY. "I got a lot of respect for you guys. You all have to prepare like its the super bowl to win a game in that basketball state, not to mention get kids to play...hell, I just stripe a field and have 6 Division 1 kids show up along with 80 others for them to just smack around!!"

 

If you can win at an average program (not talking about the T's-X's-Highlands-Belfry...etc of KY), you are quality in my book!

He was not their 4th choice, it really came down to a toss-up between him and one other after they decided not to hire from within. Who were these big names you are talking about they expected interest from?

I feel like Haddix was the right person for the job. He is a young, energetic coach who is hungry for success and knows what it takes to achieve it.

I will have to agree with you. I think that it will be hard as well.

That's fair, and I didn't really follow Corbin closely enough to know many of those things.

 

Thanks for the input, it is definitely appreciated. If the game isn't fun like you mentioned in #4, then having a young, energetic coach should cure things. Same goes for #7 with the type of offense Haddix has promised to bring in.

As for #5, are were there any kids, particularly during Williamsburg's last run, that would have otherwise been at CHS?

 

Jefferson and Brentley Patrick, Collin Lamoree, Ethan Wilson, Aaron Kissinger, and Zack Sanders all transferred to Williamsburg. This years Senior class was loaded with talent before losing many of them. Lost kids such as Woolums brothers and mills kid, as well as a big time linemen who has started at South Laurel since a freshmen. Not to mention the numerous kids who still at corbin but no longer play. Although Dalton Sizemore started in Corbin and I believe his family still lives there he transferred from Corbin at early age almost to return before choosing Williamsburg. Jaxon Stewart transferred to Knox Central after this season and he was considered the QB of the future and one of Corbin's top young athletes.
