No one is going to convince you that's fine...but she only trains with men, never women. She trains in take downs, defense, striking, wrestling and submissions with men every day. So I'd guess she's went against some pretty athletic people, all of which are bigger and stronger than Floyd. I'd guess pound for pound she's as strong as Floyd as well.

 

She'd shock you and the rest of the Floyd guys.

I feel vindicated. I spoke with a guy who fights MMA and he agreed with me that Floyd would defeat Rousey easily. He said, "I think people are forgetting that he is still a man and she is woman and that there is no way she would quick enough to gain any kind of offense on Floyd."

Royce Gracie wasn't quicker or stronger than plenty of people he would demolish in the Octagon either though.

 

You can't punch in the back of the head in UFC, meaning Rousey can lower her head and go for a shoot and Mayweather has to defend it without hitting her in the back of the head. We're also talking about a guy with brittle hands who'll be wearing much smaller, less protective gloves. Mayweather may punch her harder than she's been hit in a fight, but it's not like he's some KO machine. If we're talking about Pacquiao, I'd be more likely to agree.

 

Boxer's stances aren't conductive to defending against a shoot. Boxers aren't kicked in the knees-- none of the defenses for things like that or trips are there and no muscle memory is built up.

The general sentiment I get is this: it's not like people picking Rousey can't understand at all how Floyd could beat her, it's that they think he'd have one way of doing it whereas if Rousey clenches, trips, or even gets a hold of an arm, she's going to have a good chance. I can see how you would go either way, but if I had to bet on one, all other things held constant, my money would be on Rousey.

True, I understand what you are saying.

 

I think the fight is short on action (i.e., time other than just feeling one another out) and extremely one sided however it goes though. Either Floyd knocks her out quick or she tries to take an opening and go for the shoot.

 

I think the point that a lot of the people on the Rousey side of the debate is that with such small gloves, brittle hands, and not really the style of boxer known for his one-punch KO's, Floyd might need more than just landing a good shot. I'd think that the longer the fight goes, the more that'd work into Rousey's favor because she isn't as athletic as Floyd and would be more likely to go into the fight with the attitude that she needs to wait on him to make a mistake (e.g., something with his guard that would allow her to take a leg), then to capitalize.

 

There are only so many ways to knock someone out with a punch. Tagging them in the head or getting some body shots that soften them and then going for the head.

 

Rousey could use a choke, arm bar, submissions that focus on the knees or ankles, etc. and would have the advantage in grappling/wrestling, as well as throws from all of her judo experience.

Honestly, no. :lol2: I feel like it wouldn't be a lot different than asking if Serena Williams could beat Michael Phelps at water tennis. Maybe? I don't know. I wouldn't much care to find out.

 

I mean, I think I realize why people have gotten so serious here. On one hand there are people saying a female could take out one of the best boxers in history of the sport. On the other hand there are people downplaying the serious size and strength neutralizing skills of jiu-jitsu, judo, or wrestling. If you're a fan of either of those things your going to feel slighted.
