June 10, 201412 yr I think people are really underestimating Rousey. She'd KILL Mayweather in an MMA fight if he went in with no training. We're not talking about just any boxer, but we're not talking about just any women's MMA fighter either. Floyd's best attributes in boxing are his ability to counterpunch and his defense. He isn't some Mike Tyson type of fighter who just brutally knocks people out. The way some of these responses read, it's like people assume that Rousey would just charge at him out of control like a raging bull. I'd say she goes at him, feels him out some, maybe even fakes a move to get him to go one way, then takes him down by going another. Floyd may be extremely quick, but the first time he makes a mistake and takes a kick to the joint between the thigh and shin, he's going to lose a whole lot of that quickness. This isn't a spot he's used to getting hit in, and likely one where he hasn't built up muscles the same way he has in his neck to allow him to "take" or "roll with" a punch. As soon as she shoots and gets him down, it's all over for him. He's lost all of his power punching upwards at her, and she has her pick of which of his joints to apply some type of menacing submission to. If she decided to wrench it and there was no one there to break it up, she could literally break or dislocate any of his joints that she wanted and there's not much he could do about it. Brock Lesnar is an NCAA wrestling champion and a beast of a guy, and while he could overpower some guys, all of his losses came to guys who were skilled fighters that would see him get too aggressive, make a mistake, then capitalize by turning it into a submission. I see this one being much of the same. I would give Pacquiao a much better chance because he's more of a power puncher. Mayweather, a guy whose bread and butter is defense, no. He can't clench and get a break. He can get his back put up against the cage, losing the distance he needs to get anything behind his punches, then get taken down though.
June 11, 201412 yr I can't believe this is a discussion. I really can't. I could understand if we were talking about one of us. We're not just talking about any boxer. We're talking world class, undefeated boxer. Not a fat heavyweight but a super quick world class championship boxer. I mean seriously....I get that MMA fighters are the greatest fighters to ever walk the face of the planet. Jon Jones would murder Bruce Lee, I get it. Let's not jump to conclusions thinking that a woman...yes....a woman who knows MMA better than 99% of the men in MMA can defeat a world class undefeated championship boxer. Holy crap.....I wonder about people sometimes.
June 11, 201412 yr Or they're promoting their brand like any good business person would do....Floyd isn't some chump off the street, he's a world-class athlete. One of the best fighters in the world. I just don't think people understand the talent and athletic ability of a world-class level boxer. Correction Floyd is one of the best boxers in the world . He doesn't come close to being one of the best fighters. Floyd would be embarrassed by any male his weight in the UFC. I do struggle with saying a woman could beat a man just because of body type and strength . If Floyd keeps it on the feet of course he wins. But if he allows Rhonda to get him on the ground he will never get back up. Period of end discussion .
June 11, 201412 yr I can see it easily. As soon as she goes for the takedown, he hits her full on in the face. Lights out. I want to be on your side but this is the same silly argument boxing fans have said about MMA fighters for a decade . It's not that simple. If Floyd is in his regular boxing stance it leaves him much more vulnerable for takedown. That is why boxers have the hardest time converting to MMA.

I'm not saying Floyd doesn't win I just see how Rhonda can win. Floyd's on shot to win is a knock out early in the first . He can do that. But Rhonda being the more well rounded fighter has more options.
June 11, 201412 yr How many men has Rousey fought? Proffesionally none. But fighting a boxer is much easier fight for an MMA fighter. For anyone that has spared or understands the mechanics a pure boxing form or stance puts any fighter no matter how great at a distinct disadvantage against anyone with average takedown skills. For example there probably isn't a division 1 wrestler in Floyd's weight class right now who wouldn't put him on his back. I love boxing and the UFC. I also understand MMA fighters skill levels are in a whole different stratosphere from boxers. Floyd's advantage is naturally being built stronger than women and boxing no question. Which could get him the win . Looking at it strategically though if Floyd loaded up for a knockout punch he has to knock her out because that stance leaves him way to vulnerable for takedown .
