That's okay with me. Actually, I think that would be great. However, that's not the case. Highlands has the opportunity to get in any prestigious tournament (other than the All A) that they want to and if they chose not to, that's their fault. Please, organize a mid-class state tournament so we don't have to listen about how unfair it is that Highlands doesn't have this opportunity.

 

You hear "highlands doesn't have this opportunity". But that's NOT what I've been saying all this time. Do you really think that is the motive behind my thoughts? If so, I'll have to spend the next 5 pages figuring out how to get my real point across. Sorry if I confused you.

 

For the record, I'm perfectly happy where we compete. I love it! I believe in playing the best and challenging yourself. If you don't win, as long as you played your tails off, it's a success! And you can take pride in knowing your never avoided any competition. In fact, you sought it out. Take a look at our schedule and tell me we shy away from competition. Outside of our district games, we barely play any schools that aren't way bigger than us. We aren't looking to win in-season tournaments nor do we care what our record is. We do it all to prepare for the district and region...which we'll have to at 6a schools to win. We can't wait to get our opportunity!

And apparently you didn't take my advice and look at our schedule. I chose to play all those teams on our schedule. I chose to seek out great teams (that are much bigger than us) on purpose. You are barking up the wrong tree if you think I am jealous of HHS not getting to play in it. We are playing huge schools from Ohio and Indiana while the A is going on. Remember, HHS isn't a big school either. Maybe bigger than the A schools, but not a BIG school.

I'm pretty sure that during the Dale Era (as it will become officially known) that they NEVER shied away from competition and beat some of the best….and I'm guessing they will and would still compete. HHS football has to go looking to play bigger teams because classification did them no favors.

But....they didn't move up to the highest class, did they? Didn't give up those 3A state "cake"walks to compete with the big boys in Lou, did they? Game, set, match.

1. Stan Steidel started the All "A" concept and it spread, but its true origin is in the 9th region.

2. The overall driver in a lot of this is $$$, that's why Touchstone Energy sponsors it. Follow the money trail...

3. Think about this - there are classifications in almost every established sport (not sure about the new ones - Archery, Bass Fishing, Bowling, etc.)but one - Basketball (which does have an All "A" - see #1 and #2) but you know darn well the Sweet Sixteen will never change its playoff format to classification for the obvious reason.

4. You talk about sandbagging and trophy hunters, that is why they have classes in the Men's slow pitch softball tournaments - you choose which level to play. In the All "A", it may not be a sanctioned KHSAA tournament, but it is supported by them. So, win or lose, since we have an opportunity to play in a tournament environment, I am going to play in it so our players get the game experience in a more formal environment to get ready for Districts.

5. Wait and see if the Diocese of Covington Championship ever gets off the ground for the member high schools - most that are "A" schools.

No, they did play the big boys in the GCL and believe me, those guys match up well with the Louisville clans….no game, set, match….AND NO THREAD JACKING ! Don't be a hater, the KHSAA determines which sports have classes and which do not….they do not however determine which fans do...

This would be a fun tournament. I'd like to see it. They have it in Track so why not ?
