Nobody says they don't deserve a second chance, no where in here does anyone say that. It's just that no one at any level other than the "A" level cares enough to put together the tournament. It's just that simple, no more, no less.

 

If you are all about giving the larger schools a second chance, find enough people who care about a second chance, have them get some tips from Stan Steidel, and put together a tournament.

 

Don't blame the A schools because they have people who care more about putting on tournaments for them than the larger schools…it just doesn't fly with me RCC.

And I agree with that statement that noone cares enough to put the tournament together at the different levels. I'm not asking for that. I'm saying the A has run it's course. It doesn't do what everyone around NKY want to believe it does. I'm not saying they shouldn't play in it. I'm not saying I wouldn't play in it if our school was small enough. I'm not saying I want another tournament to create more opportunities. I'm not saying I'm jealous HHS isn't invited. I'm not saying it's anything other than "just another tournament" in my mind and apparently down state. I'm saying all the arguments for this tournament (other than it's just a great experience for a very select group of kids...and please don't say ALL the small schools) are hypocritical.

Yeah, I really don't get the angst against the tourney. I know that at least as far as softball is concerned no one that I have seen thinks they have "won the region" by qualifying for this tourney. I don't know that anyone considers it a true state championship either. Perhaps that is because realistically, no one has thought from the 9th region that they could win it. From what I have seen the girls really like the opportunity to travel and play in a tourney atmosphere with overnight stays. It is a blast. Thank Touchstone for sponsoring it.

Whew! I'm glad people are dropping out. I was getting tired of proving everyone wrong!!! (just kidding, just kidding!!!) It was educational for me too.

 

I have blisters on my fingers!!!!! And I do type this stuff at lunch break and when all the smokers take their smoke breaks...since I don't smoke! And I'm a VERY fast typer, so it doesn't take long for me to type my novels! Anyone else want to wave the white flag...please!

 

What else can we talk about...politics? Religion? Abortion? You know...all the sensitive subjects that are right up there with the All A Classic.

It has been a GREAT TOPIC but seems to be losing steam and before it does I want to know how many of the people that defended the ALL A Classic in this topic are representing an ALL A SCHOOL that is not affiliated with one of the Catholic Schools in the 9th region?

 

Lets hear from those schools:

 

I am not trying to make it a religious topic but in the 9th region the catholic schools seems to dominate the ALL A field. Or is it religion? I don't think so, but is there something in the water? Maybe. It seems like most of the comments debating or critiquing RCC are supporters of the catholic schools. I would like to hear from the other schools point of view or at least know which comments came from supporters of the community schools.

 

Maybe a different angle: Why is it that the smaller community schools that fall into the same size school criteria in the 9th region like the Daytons, Bellevues, Newports, Ludlows ,etc... has not been able to compete with the NCC or St. Henry or even Holy Cross (I was talking to JMU at the HHS vs Boone Co game at the Birdcage and he made sure to include Holy Cross in that group because they won it when his DD was I think he said a 7th grader. BTW He says Hello to everyone).

 

I think everyone agrees anytime you can get extra time for the KIDS between the lines (especially a spring sport like softball) it improves their High School experience which is really what it is all about! If it wasn't called the ALL A and was just another mid season tournament on the state level most would want to participate! I am not debating whether anybody fits the definition set by the ALL A Classic because those standards are the same as KHSAA. Right? Nor am I debating if your eligible by those standards whether or not you should play in that tournament. Why wouldn't you it could make for a great banquet at end of the season!

 

I guess my question is it a level playing field amongst the Class A sized schools in the 9th region? if so Why? Is it great coaching? Is it facilities?

Well it isn't the facilities because the most successful 9th region All-A school (NCC) probably has the worst facilities. I don't think the coaching is all that much better ......maybe the Catholic school coaches tend to stay longer in general but they make a lot less money. Probably the best reason is that the private schools have a high level of participation in sports and that the student's parents, who are willing to shell out tuition money, probably have been shelling out money for sports participation since the first grade for those students.

Look at those numbers! I thouht NCC was a catholic school!!! Secondly, looks like a good game! NCC appears to be "competing" with with whoever they are playing in that game. Oh, it's HHS they are playing! That huge school that NCC can't compete with and isn't eligible for the All A!
