Letterman's Late Night Replacement

So after 34 years of hosting late night television, Dave announced last night that he has informed the CBS president that he will be retiring in 2015.

 

So let's hear who you think will be taking over the reigns on The Late Show.

I could see Leno putting his hat in the ring, but I don't know if I can see CBS buying into the idea.

Who knows. All the late shows have been mind-numbingly awful for years though.

Someone young. NBC already figured it out: the ratings are taking a dive in those time slots and nothing is going to bring them back. Fallon is doing well by being an internet presence and having his bits get big numbers on NBC's website where people have to watch ads before seeing them. I'll have to think about this for a while...

In the spirit of the thread, it's difficult, because all the guys I'm thinking of are actors more so than anything else. Almost no chance they'd switch over IMO.

I'd like to see CBS develop some new programming for that time slot!

I'm interested to see if CBS goes bold and maybe tries a woman, something that has never been tried in late night. Chelsea Handler (might be too risque) and Tina Fey are the first that come to mind.

I wouldn't want the job of replacing Letterman. His fans are the most loyal of the late night bunch.

Tina Fey was the first one that I thought of as well. It would be a bold move but if you look at the SNL alumni Fallon & Meyers they are doing well as hosts of late night. I think it would be nice to have a hostess in the mix.
