Example of how the different sexes view things

So I sold my old 1996 Ford Contour to my girlfriends youngest daughter's boyfriend. They have a little girl together and expecting another. The young man has a big diesel truck that gets, of course bad fuel mileage and he was looking for something cheap to drive every day and asked if I would sell my old car. Now, it's nothing to look at for sure and needs a little work, but it runs and drives good and gets good gas mileage.

I get home yesterday and my girlfriend says she just can't believe Brandon would want to buy Barney (car is purple and thus nicknamed Barney). I asked why. She said well...look at it...it's terrible looking, who would want to drive that? And it needs some work done to it. Function over form I tell her. Doesn't matter what it looks like, it serves a purpose and will save him lost of money and do what he needs it to do. In her mind, it has to look good and she is more concerned with "form over function". In my experience I think a lot of women think this way as compared to men. Not all women of course, but in general I see it a lot. Yes or no?

So I take it that you are in agreement? But my question is, why, in this example, view it like this? It's a work car, it has a purpose, it doesn't have to look good to get the job done. Just something I have found very frustrating over the years.

If mr. lawildcat is the only one driving a car like that, I say go for it. BUT, if I'm going to be seen in that car as well, it has to look good or it makes me look bad. And I don't like to look bad!

Women are just vain like that sometimes.

Is "form over function" another way of saying "size matters"?:troll:

True, I have figured that out over the years...and yep, my gf would NOT ride it in any more with me, which I just found to be absolutely ludicrous...but it is what it is. I still and never will understand it...but hey, thank God he gave us women to try and figure out.:)

Sometimes ?! DUH….

More good men been ruined by women's vanity than been killed in war. Not a shot at you Cat, but I've seen so many men trying to "keep up with the Jones" to keep the significant other happy that they run them selves into the poor house or work themselves so much they have no meaningful relationship with wife or kids. Then guess what, she leaves.

Long story short, women are the devil.

Well, this devil drives a BMW X5 so I look good all the time, even with my pitchfork sticking out of the sunroof and my tail flying in the breeze!

Fair enough... But most men would think you looked good riding a big wheel, so all the extra is for you women only.

So, are you saying you have to have this car to look good?

You see Cat, I bet you would probably look good dressed in a potato sack driving a Pinto. Good looking is good looking. I understand wanting nice things and appearance is important some of the time, but gosh it can go WAAAAAAAAAAY to far, and many times does.

So you're saying you need a sharp car to make you look good, and that you look normal or below average in a cheap car. Gotcha. :sssh::popcorn::popcorn:
