April 3, 201412 yr Author My wife has an old car she can't part with; she just said last night I might have to put a few dollars in "bessie" to keep her going for awhile. Granted she has purchased a newer car that she loves but she still drives bessie everyday to work. Smart. Keep the miles off the new car. That's what I was doing some with my old Contour. Will probably drive my truck more now day to day for work, try to keep some miles of my newer Focus.
April 3, 201412 yr I've driven and owned some real turd buckets (bought one on purpose recently to drive back and forth to work to keep miles off my new truck) and I've had some very high end vehicles. I am so over the status of them. Now, when I first graduated and started making a significant living, I thought my "status" was attached to the car. Funny how priorities change. At this point in my life, I'd prefer my boat cost more than my vehicle. As for automobiles, I've never owned a BMW, but I've owned several Mercedes and there's no doubt a difference in quality. Those Germans are pretty solid at making cars.
