I watched this game on the webcast, have all the games in the tourney been called this tight? Just asking because this is the only game I have seen. It makes watching a game brutal and I can only imagine being on the floor playing, it has to be frustrating.

Very unpredictable, and inconsistent. Tonight it was Bump night. If the ball handler initiated contact while driving and "bumped" the defender, even if on his feet, with hands up and having good position, they were called fouls against the defender. Both Schult and Schuh were victimized in this department. Several of Bo's fouls were self-inflicted. He tries to swat shots and is very visible in doing so. I think Schult is a pretty solid defender, and simply a victim of bad circumstances.

 

Of course, with that said, Ruthsatz was the beneficiary of the same call at the opposite end.

Bardstown's run ends in state QFs

 

LEXINGTON — The Bardstown Tiger dream ride came to an end in Rupp Arena Friday night, but not without a fight.

 

One night after winning the first state tournament game in school history, the 5th Region champions battled Covington Catholic (31-2) to the final minutes before falling 61-54 in a quarterfinal game.

 

The loss put an end to the most successful season in school history.

 

Seivon Schooling, the 5th Region’s co-Player of the Year, reflected on Bardstown’s magical ride.

 

“We won a game at the state tournament for the first time in school history,” he said. “But we wanted so much more. These guys were not just my teammates, but they were by brothers.”

 

In a game that featured 19 lead changes and 14 ties, it was the Colonels who were able to execute down the stretch, scoring on nine of their last twelve possessions while limiting Bardstown to only five of their final 10.

I was impressed by Cowherd's speed on the breakout then really impressed to see a 5'8" PG throw down.

Before Covington Catholic's Nick Ruthsatz shoots free throws, he steps above the top of key, turns his back to the line, does a quick deep knee bend, and meditates.

 

He was doing that a lot in the closing minutes of the Colonels' quarterfinal showdown with Bardstown in the 97th Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Friday night.

 

"I think over the whole season, about the hard work we've put in, and how I'm not going to let this be the last time we play," Ruthsatz said of his routine.

Really good win for CovCath against a team I've enjoyed watching.

Cov Cath has not played a good game yet. That is a good thing. This team is going to bust out tomorrow night and roll into the finals.

 

Has not played a good game yet. I'll have to disagree with that ......they shot 67% from 3 against clay and shot 10 more free throws. Only 3 teams shot more free throws than clay this year. But that 67% is almost unreal

Yes good point. But I am telling you on the defensive side and overall basketball smarts they are way better than what they have shown. I have seen some horrible defense from a great defensive team. Some really really stupid fouls where kids are missing minutes because of it and turnovers this team just doesn't normally make. Watch out if this team starts playing on all cylinders. Like the song on the pre and post game cch radio broadcast says, "I got a feeling, that tonights gonna be a good night", Tonights the night!!!!!!!"
