Do we as US citizens have a problem with HOW the enemy kills our soldiers? Or do we simply say "well, he/she's dead anyway - doesn't matter what they do the corpse?"

 

Would we be upset beyond our normal level if the enemy released pictures of a soldier who had been shot dead, burned, and hung in effigy?

Yes, no one wants to see our soldiers corpses abused, mutilated and paraded in front of the cameras. That's why I could not care less if the UBL are ever shown...I just don't care either way.

 

Nor do I care if they shot him 3 times or 300, some people just deserve what they get.

I wasn't comparing the soldiers to bin laden. I was comparing the reaction of supporters. We think (know) bin laden was pure evil. His supporters think the US soldiers are pure evil.

 

My post was to point out that not showing the photos may be because of the reaction they were garner. It was also to point out that said reaction may not be unwarranted by the supporters.

Wait, the guy talks about the body having over 100 bullet holes in it as if it were a confirmed fact. When, the fact is, no where has anyone said such a thing publicly, and the excerpt from the former SEAL team 6 member he quotes states "several rounds" were fired into the chest to make sure UBL was dead. When I hear several, I'm thinking maybe 7 or 8. Where is the "over 100" number he keeps referring to coming from? Confidential sources? Who, other team 6 members? I bet not. And I'm going to tell you...although I never served on an "elite" force while in the military so I am not privy to their tactics...I'm gonna tell you right now, those guys in the middle of a dangerous mission like this STILL in hostile territory and under pressure to get out are NOT going to stand around and pump bullets into the corpse just for the sake of doing so. Makes no sense at all and I just think almost assuredly isn't gonna and didn't happen. My take.

This could give new meaning to the story of when Obama met in secret with Seal Team Six after the raid. The president asked which seal shot him, and they answered "in essence, we all did."

 

Two thoughts:

 

1) There are a lot of folks who pushed back from SEALs (including members of SEAL Team Six) after Matt Bissonnette revealed himself to be the author of "No Easy Day" about the motives and all-around factual accuracy of many parts of the book. Agree with BigVMan's "Why do we accept this as fact?" remark.

 

2) I remember several articles who very specifically noted that when President Obama met with SEAL Team Six after the raid, he did NOT ask about who shot Bin Laden. Where did you get your info regarding the President asking that question?

Those guys needed to get in and get out. I highly doubt they would jeopardize their ability make it home safely to load a few more mags into an already dead body. Especially considering they still need to collect intel and a crashed chopper woke everyone up. And don't forget they were in a foreign country, uninvited. That's without mentioning that there are very few outfits that operate as the SEALS do. Highly unlikely, IMO.
