SWEET 16....who is the FAVORITE now?

Here's a majorly important question for you. Who are the "dunkers" I need to be looking out for so I can get my shots at Rupp? If anyone mentions Scott County's Raekwon Long I'll obviously not take any other names you put forward seriously! ;)

DAVE

Hoptowns tra Edwards. He is 6'4 and has a 42 inch vertical. He can throw it down. Looks like he never comes down haha. I think bg has a high flyer too

The computer polls? Yes, I'm sure the did. But I always assumed folks went by the AP poll.

No one that I trust to have a basketball brain trusts the computer polls, ever. I have to wonder who really votes anymore in the AP poll because I thought (as did most on here as I recall) that the poll was awful. I'm not disputing the merits of Hoptown at all. Frankly, I think they're the favorite to win it all now that Ballard is gone. But, again, I think it was Ballard who was the consensus #1 in most polls and in the minds of those on this board and who follow hoops as closely as we all do here.

Both Lit and Cantrall will come out with their statistical ratings, plus I imagine BGP and AP, I think.

Top 4 any order (class of the tourney)

Hoptown, Scott Co., Cov Cath, Trinity

Next Tier (good chance if they play their games)

PRP, Wayne Co., KCC

Intriguing (playing well)

BG, O'boro, Campbell Co., Bardstown

I'd be shocked (just don't see it)

McCracken, South Oldham, Johnson Central, Clay County, Fleming Co.

Just the Maniac's unbiased, no doubt usually wrong, opinion

Played a good in state schedule with impressive wins over Lafayette and Dunbar. Only beat E'town by 1, Fern Creek by two, and O'boro hung with them. They are for real, but not prohibitive as some think.

They had 2 starters out with injuries for the Owensboro game. And I believe that game was at Owensboro.

The wildcard, in my opinion, is PRP. They are capable. Depends if Jekyll or Hyde show up.

Any particular reason why you feel the need to troll me? they were #1 in the ap poll. Is that not legit?

If you look long enough, you'll find a poll with them there.

Troll you? If you want to cherrypick a poll you like, have at it. Are you new here?

It's going to be tough for me to pick one team out of Trinity, Scott County, Hopkinsville and Covington Catholic and say that they're the favorite, though I think those four are currently the top picks. I'll have to ponder it as today goes on.

I'll say this, Friday's quarterfinals should be OUTSTANDING this year. If things break like I think they will, the Friday could see Trinity/Hopkinsville, Scott County/Johnson Central, Wayne Co/Knott Co. Central and PRP/CovCath. Holy cow.

TO be clear, I actually don't think Hoptown will win state. A team that can keep it close on the boards and limit their turnovers will beat them. The bigger Rupp Arena floor is a big adjustment for their press.

No doubt about it. They have the talent to make a run to the championship game and I think the bracket sets up favorably with three of the favorites lined up to knock each other out on the other side. I think we're going to get a really fun one on Friday night between PRP and CovCath.

Is the AP poll not the most consistently cited? Perhaps not on here. I know Bluegrass preps has a poll. But you typically hear the "ap poll" when you hear the rankings on the radio or read them in the newspaper. Pardon me. I'll bow down to whatever poll you order me to.

CovCath wins state. They will' date=' in order: Beat Clay by 12 Beat PRP by 4 Beat KCC by 4 Beat Trinity by 3 CovCath can play at any speed. If you want to run, they have team speed and the shooters for the kick-out 3's If you want to play slow down and pound it, they are a bit undersized but play strong interior D and the guards do not allow an easy entry pass (See games vs. Cincy St. X, NCC) They have enough to win it all.[/quote']

Don't agree with your final result but can you hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth if 2 private schools meet in the championship.

Relax, all I'm saying is that there are a zillion polls. Most said Ballard. That's it. No I don't think the AP poll is the best of the bunch frankly. No more, no less.

i agree here ballard was number one all year long. hoptown trinity matchup will be great dont know much about trinity but i know they like to slow the game down and hoptown likes to run but can play the half court with the best of them and they stagger the press sometimes when you never know when its coming and get guards all alone in the backcourt and having guys running like db's in football to pick the pass. i know trinity is a big team which will be tough! Hoptowns starting five is 6'6 6'6 6'4 5'11 5'11 with a 6'6 and 6'2 and 5'11 coming off the bench. if trinity keeps Hopkinsville out of the paint and off the boards they will beat my tigers. if hoptown plays strong on the block like they have been i think its theirs to take if they come to play.

Also guys watch Hoptowns backup guard Q cager! he is the best guard on the team but comes off the bench to steady the waters, he made all region 2 team. i personally and alot of people in the west believe he is very underrated. scoring 20 in each region game. he can control the pace of the game to his liking. i haven't seen someone with the ball handles he has in a while in the west.He is big to where he can bump and make contact on the way to the basket he really is a treat to watch with his dipsy doo moves. He knows where all his team mates are at all times. He can make defenses collapse on him driving because of his scoring ability but his passing ability is just as good to find the open man once he makes the d collapse on him.

I can hear it already. It won't be pretty.

What I'm more inclined to hope happens is that Trinity and PRP meet up and we get the all-Louisville final. That one will be entertaining to read about as well.
