How close did Rodrick Rhodes come?

Featured Replies

As close as Perry County Central did in the 14th.

For some reason I'm reminded of Maxwell Smart.

"Missed it by..."

I think people are missing the point about Chris Hudson. He's not just Hazard's best player, he's basically Hazard's team. And he began his career at Cordia. The OP is saying if they'd had Hudson and/or Hines, they'd have been a lot better. People are also throwing out talk about seeing them in games before Chapman and Ortiz, two kids who started, became eligible too.

Seems to be a lot of reading only what you want to see on this thread.

With Hudson and Hines they in all likelihood would have won the region. Then would have had a shot at winning State WITH those players

Cordia lost to Hazard in the first round of the 14th Region Tournament. There is no question that the Lions were among the Top 4 in this region but do you realize how close he came to winning the State Tournament this year. Start by admitting that they definitely would have won the region if they still had Hudson. Let's go one step further. The number 2 player in the state of Mississippi, Malik Hines, was at Cordia at the beginning of the school year. At 6'8, and 220 pounds, I insist that these two kids would have put Cordia in a position to win the State.

Cordia has a bunch of seniors this year. It will be interesting to see how Rhodes reloads. If you evaluate how close he was this year it should be fun to see the strategy he employs to win the 14th, and then the state.

Rhodes is at home tonight on the outside looking in....he will never win a Regional tourney here in the 14th

How can you say NEVER?

What he said was they were close to winning the state tournament...repeatedly. That is why he is getting bombarded.

That's the part I was referring to.

I took it to mean that, Cordia was one of the top 4 teams in the region this season and could have won State with Hudson & Hines.

Gotcha...but they are home studying.

Was checking to see how Hines did at Life Center...here's a box score from last week

Pitman 11 5 15 17 - 48

Life Center 10 17 12 23 - 62

P: Tim Delaney 10, Darnell Foreman 16, Matt Spicer 6, Eric Stafford 3, Tyler Wisniewski 13.

LC: Traci Carter 4, Malik Ellison 21, Rip Engel 5, Malik Hines 8, Ned Ogoemesim 10, Trayvon Reed 14.

There was some confusion behind the recruitment of 2014 Life Center (NJ) power forward Malik Hines as some believed he was committed to Ohio State. That is not the case. The Buckeyes are the Mississippi native's favorite at the moment. That doesn't necessarily mean they will take him, though. Baylor, Miami and Penn State are the other schools he lists as being involved in his recruitment. An undecided power forward, who finishes strong inside, Hines makes an appealing spring option to some.

And that's why he said "would have put them in a position to win state"

In other news, I cleaned my sock drawer out last night.

I need to clean out mine. I have so many useless socks and singles that are taking up space.
