Featured Replies

With some members going to the SEC tourney this next week, thought it would be great to get others opinion/suggestions on some good places to eat around or close to the Georgia Dome.

I read something somewhere about a BBQ place called DOG something???

Ugh. It is right in the heart of everything so it is primarily a lot of overpriced, commercial food in the area despite being in a town with great food.

Anyone know how close The Varsity is from the dome. Saw them on a food show. Looked cool.

It's not real far at all, but probably a bit farther than you might want to walk.

I would highly recommend Mary Mac's Tea Room in Midtown.

If you want some good down home southern cooking, this is the place for you.

They have photos of all the celebrities who have eaten there. It is a very cool place.

Highly recommend the Pot Likker with Cracklin Cornbread for starters along with some Fried Green Tomatoes.

Their specialty, I believe, is there Fried Chicken.

Do you have a address?

It is pretty cool, just know what your ordering before walking up to the cashier/server. If it is during a bust time, I'd send someone to grab a table while the rest ordered for them.

You'll leave there saying, "What'll you have, what'll you have" the rest of the day!

How close is it? Where is is located?

It is probably a couple of miles from the Georgia Dome, across the interstate from the Georgia Tech campus. It's not fine dining, burgers and dogs, plain or with cheese, chili, or slaw. Fries and Onion rings. If you go the chili dogs and onion rings are a must. Very greasy, might just skip the hotel and check into the nearest cardiac unit, but it was very good.

Miss Pittypat's Porch for great southern home style cooking. Gone With The Wind style restaurant. Reasonably priced as well. 25 Andrew Young Intl. Blvd. It's right downtown. We always walk to it from the dome. Pictures of the famous who have eaten their adorn the hall to and inside the restrooms.

If you are a Hooters fan, the one downtown is always alive and active. They also have the best staff I have ever seen at any location.
