Mike Listerman

Featured Replies

I never discourage healthy dialogue, but am I the only one getting a little uneasy with this thread? Coach Listerman himself may not care what other folks say about him online but the young men whom he currently coaches are, well, young men. I assume they can access this material and I worry that they may have some trouble processing it.

Some of our very own members have trouble processing some of this material......PP1

This really is getting deep.....let's wait and see how the next game goes, and then access it again!

Your daughter once dated a CovCath basketball player who had great things to say about Listerman. From that you conclude it was the parents who not only ran off Listerman, but Brossart as well?

That's a big leap. Suffice it to say, it was time for a change in both programs.

That being said, I wish nothing but the continued success for Listerman and Brossart in their coaching careers.

Yes on all of it!

This thread would not even be happening if Mike L would let it go.

He continues to make a fool of himself when Holmes plays CCH somehow trying to prove something to CCH.

There is no reason for him to yell at the CCH coaches & players during the games.

I'm sure he doesn't act like that when Holmes plays other teams.

What's the deal with Coach Listerman? The last two games I went to there was some bad Blood between Cov Cath coaches and him?

Might everyone be missing the big picture here......Cov Cath vs Holmes = Rivalry...For one reason or the other Coach L is gone from Cath, reappears at Holmes..Whatever his duties are at Holmes is between him and Coach B. Coach L could be parking cars,,why would we care, As far as his sideline actions,,thats why there are 3 stripes, to control the game......

Perspective is tough to establish if your terms are vague. If "let it go" means you know what "it" is, then you know more than the rest of us. And if by "like that" you mean highly energetic behavior and an occasional audible piece of advice to a JV player, trust me -- I've been at every Holmes game this season save one, and Coach Listerman doesn't discriminate. As for direct confrontation with CCH coaches and players, please read my earlier post: something did occur at last year's regional contest but it was strictly between the two coaches, there's no way of telling whether or how they've resolved it, and we have no idea how it relates to the current situation. I personally have not seen Listerman address any opposing players directly other than to shake hands at the end of games, but I'm open to correction on that.

Coach L has earned his spot. The exchange on Saturday night was between bench coaches and I personally thought it was just spirited competition. I knew it was on when Coach L removed his coat ! Happens all the time in rivalry games. There was some exchange on the Holmes bench between and amongst the coaches that included Coach Listerman, but they shut it down and obviously put it all together for the win. Passion wears many faces and you could probably go down this road with a lot of coaches, I don't think it means a whole lot in the scheme of things. He brings a lot to the table….I just wish he would wear a long sleeve shirt with his jacket and tie.

The last sentence made me laugh

I agree 100% KyBigHorns!

Having known a couple young men that played for both Coach Listerman and Coach Ruthsatz at Cov Cath, they told me it was night and day difference playing for Ruthsatz as opposed to Listerman. I can tell you for a fact that they loved their time playing for Coach Ruthsatz and not so much for Listerman.

In my opinion, there are two sides to Coach Listerman, first is the man, and a good man at that (off the court) and then there is the coach. The 'Coach' Listerman leaves a lot to be desired and it continues to show through with his behavior on the Holmes bench when Holmes plays against Cov Cath.

......

You also have to wonder about how much, if even subconsciously, it bothers Mike that not only did Scott's kid break Mike's kid's scoring record, but they made shirts to commemorate it. I'm sure Mike views Nick as having the greenest of green lights and he probably feels like Andy got it "the right way" and in the flow of the offense.

Disclaimer: that is 100% MY CONJECTURE, I've not heard anyone, anywhere, refer to that or make mention of it. I could be, which apparently is my M.O., completely off-base on this.

I am fully aware of your disclaimer. I read it twice and will sign off on the dotted line. Randy will be my witness. (Oh wait, he's not old enough.) :lol2:

That said, do you care to explain what you mean about the bolded?

Take a deep breath Mike, it will all be ok.
