I think he is a very nice but I think that is disrespectful for him to be so negative towards the Cov Cath coaches. Those coaches weren't at Cov Cath when he was not asked back!

Not going to go through and find it . So can you explain?

Last Year he got in Coach Ruthsatz face during halftime because he was talking to the referee about something. Last night he was yelling at the bench because Cov Cath coaches were asking the referee about a call he didn't make!

He did it at Cov Cath several times throughout his career but not as intense. I used to dislike his sideline blowups when he was at Cov Cath. Personally I think there is a huge sourness he is still tasting.

Is it not normal to want to crap in someones Wheaties once they sent you packing. Especially if you were so, so dedicated while you were there? And I also suspect it is hard to sit second chair once you were head coach for so many years. Jump, shout and support your team Mike and if you get T'd up now and then it makes for good viewing. It all seems rather predictable to me.

Mike is a good man. He has always been fairly emotional and animated when on the sidelines. I choose to give him a pass on these incidents, as I understand why anyone would harbor some feelings towards a former employer; especially one that you poured your heart into. I just hope he can put this behind himself before it escalates or manifests into something worse.

I'm with you. I know Mike a little, that is we've talked on a few times, and I have always found off-the-court Mike to be calm, kind, and a genuinely good guy. Heck, I bet off-the-court Mike would tell you that Holmes-vs-CovCath Mike is volatile and angry (as Panda stated, not hard to connect the dots). Likewise, I hope Mike can get it out of his system before something physical occurs that will undo a career of the good things he has accomplished.

......

You also have to wonder about how much, if even subconsciously, it bothers Mike that not only did Scott's kid break Mike's kid's scoring record, but they made shirts to commemorate it. I'm sure Mike views Nick as having the greenest of green lights and he probably feels like Andy got it "the right way" and in the flow of the offense.

Disclaimer: that is 100% MY CONJECTURE, I've not heard anyone, anywhere, refer to that or make mention of it. I could be, which apparently is my M.O., completely off-base on this.

I'm a big fan of Coach L for many reasons and will always appreciate what he's done in his career. The fact is, he's just one of those old school coaches that wants to win at everything and really doesn't care about anybody other than his team. I'm old school too and wish there were more like him. I've known who he was for 30+ years but never had the pleasure to meet him until about 3 years ago. Since then, I've talked to him numerous times and he's always remembered when we first met and always ask how my kids are doing. His achievements and accomplishments are so unattainable, that might be why so many people have hard feelings towards him. Best wishes Coach L!

The proper etiquette is for the head coach to work the refs and the assistants to handle the players. Somebody did not get that memo when he put back on the red sweater vest. Do you give him a pass because he was once one of yours? If Bacigaulpo or Otte acted in this manner, they would have been ran many times.

I am Switzerland on this subject, no red or blue in my closet. I respect what Mike has contributed over many decades, but he is not the head coach anymore.

This deserves it's own thread. Listerman has now gone off the last 3 times these 2 leans have played.

I just cut/pasted my post from yesterday in the Whrey thread.

I have never Coach Listerman but have watched him coach several teams over the years. I know nothing official about why he left Covington Catholic, but I have heard a ton of opinions on the subject. Not one to believe a lot of what I hear, but it sure sounds like there were a ton of issues surrounding his leaving CCH and none of them were good.

I'm sure all of this was harped on when he left, so I don't mean to re-hash a ton of old stuff. I don't know the real story, or stories, but all you have to do is ask anyone who has had a kid go through CCH over the years and you'll hear some wild opinions on the subject.

Your vagueness is unfair to Coach L. It could cause some to think something serious occurred. It didn't. It was just time for a fresh face in the opinion of Bob Rowe.

Two questions on this thread:

1. Was this the case from a few years ago when someone wrote a very long letter to the CCH administration regarding a coaching change? A letter that was posted on his site?

2. Why is it that when I enter the boy's forum I see three start next to this thread? What do those stars mean?

I guess it was four questions.
