Owens,McCowan and VanHoose are all very worthy candidates.Owens is the best offensive player,VanHoose the best shooter and McCowan the best all around(He averages more assists than the other two while playing center).An earlier post was correct when they questioned the defensive ability/effort of Owens.There isn't a lot there.Also McCowan is somewhat penalized by playing on such a good team.He is not the main scoring focus for Morgan they have many other options.Remember in games involving these three teams Morgan was 2-0,Boyd 2-1 and Russell 0-3.Having said all this there is not a more explosive player in the region than Owens,a shooter with more range than Van Hoose(also little known fact he is shooting 65% plus on 2 pt. attempts this year) and more of all around player than McCowan.

Vanhoose takes about 10 shots per game less than Owens!!

I believe that duck is pointing out that Owens shoots the ball a whole lot more than anyone else in the region, and thus should lead the area in scoring. Just because a player is the area's leading scorer doesn't mean he should be the POY. How many times is the NBA's leading scorer the league's MVP? With all of that being said, Owens would get my vote for POY. I believe he had made the biggest impact of any other player in the region this year.

The bottom line is Vanhoose is a top player in the state,

and is only going to get better,but Owens is just a step

NO! Owens is going D1, not And 1.I guess everybody entitled to there

OPINION,but I do know that Owens and the lions beat Vanhoose and

the Red devils twice.I guess its because Owens took 10 more shots. :irked:

All of the players mentioned have made their teams better this season. I believe that the player that has helped his team shine and has been the most consistent has been Mcgowan. This kid has posted the numbers that you would expect from a team player all while leading his team to the best record and a WIN over an Owens led Boyd Co. team. There is no doubt that Owens has had a super season and hats off for the effort that he gave Boyd Co., but with all his scoring and effort their record still only shows 14 wins and they lost to Ashland, Rose Hill, and Morgan Co. 2 of which were suppose to have "off" years.

VANHOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter how many shots he has taken, Owens and Vanhooses shooting % is very close to one another, it is just a matter of Owens having to do more for his team. He also avg 4 assists per game,and it could have been more if his teammates would have caught some passes from him that they just weren't used to getting in the past.

Im going to say McCowan should be POY. He is averaging a double double(something the other two arent doing) and has led his team to the best record in the region. He is the complete package. He has had some triple doubles this year. He gets my vote.

His team does have a better record, but he has a better supporting cast that Owens does at BC, IMO.
