Jumper_Dad Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Venture capitalist in bid to split California into six states: Thomson Reuters Business News - MSN Money Plan to split California into six states closer to vote
Jumper_Dad Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 I don't see Congress ever letting this happen, even if Californians vote for it.
Getslow Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I've seen a map of the state of "Jefferson". I assume it'll basically be Nebraska... mostly farms and meth. While I'm sure the residents of rural California find the image-obsessed beautiful people of LA and the drug-addled flamboyant homosexuals of the Bay Area unappealing, those places also represent almost all of California's economic power. They're basically looking to create more states that suck federal dollars like a vacuum cleaner because they don't produce enough on their own.
Getslow Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Just in case you were curious about what drives economies in the 21st century...
Bengal Maniac Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 12 Senators from the existing California. Ain't happening as the article states. Congress will never agree to this. But then again, it is Congress.
mcpapa Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Would have to make a boatload of new flags...
Getslow Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Would have to make a boatload of new flags... STIMULUS.
mcpapa Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 ^Where do I sign up to invest in U.S. flag-making companies? Hint - they're probably based in China.
Getslow Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 ^Where do I sign up to invest in U.S. flag-making companies? Hint - they're probably based in China. FAILED STIMULUS.
Jumper_Dad Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Would have to make a boatload of new flags... Well the guy behind it is a venture capitalist...maybe he's cornered the market on flag production
Twotoplace Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 12 Senators from the existing California. Ain't happening as the article states. Congress will never agree to this. But then again, it is Congress. California has two senators representing more than 38 million people. Wyoming has two senators representing fewer than 600,000 people. About 30 years ago, as I recall, there was a proposal to chop up California into three states. That probably makes more sense than six states.
Hellbird Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I say we just chop California period and let them sink in the ocean.
jericho Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 The six states should be split like this. 1 republicans 2 liberals 3 Hispanics 4 Hollywood stars 5 navy 6 homosexuals

I wish we would go back to the old way of selecting Senators The beauty of the system is that in the Senate every state regardless of population is equal. Seems the Socialists would love that.
