Agreed

They have a right to say what they want but they don't get it. Appeasment policies do not work. Ask Europe of the 1930's

This person in iraq is a student of history he knows how to work the propaganda machine and he is doing a great job at it

Doing what is right takes a strong stomach and we have a Great leader to do what is right:thumb:

Just to clarify something, Saddam is not in any way a religious fanatic nor did he gas his people to religious reasons. He gassed Kurdish villages because they supported Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. Saddam is as atheistic as they come. Nonetheless releasinv nerve agents and chemical weapons on a civilian population is criminal and should be punished.

I feel that the protesters have a right to voice their opinion, but I still believe that they do not have the slightest inclination as to what Saddam has done not only to soldiers that fought against Iraq, the Iranian soldiers who are still coughing up their lungs in hospitals to this day, and to his own people, the Kurds who will be cursed with birth defects for at least three generations due to the nerve agents released in their villages.

Actually I think Red71 was still on track there PepRock. The original causes of the Iran Iraq war are somewhat based on Religion, Iraq is mostly Shiite, what Saddam claims to be is Sunni and the Sunni Minority in Iraq rules over the Shiite minority though I agree no good muslim would act like Saddam has, he doesn't claim to be atheist on the contrary he has envoked Allah many times to condemn us. The Kurds and the Iranians are Shiite Muslims. The Kurds felt a religous obligations toward the Iranians and supported them so Saddam gased them. So it is as much a religous reason as Hitler gasing Jewish Germans. Lets face it Hitler was not exactly a great Christian anymore than Saddam is a great Muslim.

There is one option that people who plan and participate in these peace rally's havent pushed for and it's something that I don't think they have considered.

#1 Why don't we back of of everything, no more being the world Policeman. To put it in simple terms just stay here at home and not get involved, if Saddam Gasses people tough its not our problem, I f all the Middle east comes together and attacks Isreal no problem it's not the US's problem. If Hilter's Great grandson comes to power and decides he wants to expand no problem.

If The south American countries begin to battle each other and wipe out the rainforrest which supplies 35% of earth's Oxgen no problem if Canada become a dictator ship no problem. Tell me where our world will be in ten years, my guess chaos!

We are now and have always been in the nation build business its part of being a world power, right now we are the only one.

I dont want a war but if you have to have one then do it right.

The problem today as it was in 60's is people dont know why we have war's they are too enlightened by CNN, MSNBC, fox and the majors and you will be hard pressed to see pro war stories.

I love knowledge but we as a nation need to learn a remember a few things. If Sept 11 had happened in 1941 what do you think our nation would have done? I would guess Truman would have sent a couple of our fatman/little boy experiments to someone's backyard.

Our soldiers our hero's fought and died for this nation to stop a mad man. What did Germany do to the US before we declared war, they warned us not to get on english liners so innocents wouldnt be hurt but we enter the war to save lives.

The pupose of History is to learn from out mistakes, How many innocents were killed by our bombs we dont know. why? Because the networks didn't stick it in you face each night. When you declare war it is on a nation and our educated people havent understood that since Nam. We didnt declare war on the Nazi's we declared war on Germany all of Germany, if a bomb hit a school in ww2 guess what it hit a building no news no cnn no crying liberals.

But now it's on tv and if one "innocent" is hit guess what cover of time and Larry king interviews the family.

Right now im not sure I want this war but it not the Presidents Job too convince me or everyone, only the majority. And right now 56% think we should so guess what our nation has spoken.

Las tyear i hosted a forign exchange student from Germany and he sent me an email, his statement was Bush was looking for a reason to attack, but Germany's greatest fear was not of bush or the US but of a mildle eastern Madman and what he would do in the region and in Europe, and this is according to what he is seeing and hearing.

It is a frightning time i agree.

One last question if Castro were to announce he was in the process of starting nuclear research and balistic weapons program would we see peace rallys poping up saying stay out of cuba. But then again they are only 90 miles away from us.

Love your country, Love your nation, if you dont like it vote its your right but keep your signs out of my yard.

Here's another quiz for ya...

Don't take this the wrong way, but you were mixing your wars there with the English Liners.

As an interesting parallel, Hitler himself said that had the French opposed his reoccupation of the Rhineland that would have stopped his ambitions right there. The German Army was at that point nowhere near the strength of the French and as such would have been easily ousted. The point here is that all that is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

They dont understand what in the world is going on, and they just think we're after the oil. Yeah... thats it. We rather have the oil than keep Sadaam Insane from killing his people we chemical and biological warfare. Sounds like a good reason to me.

One other thing, Out of all the protest around the world, including the USA did you see one sign that said "Saddam, disarm to avoid War"? No, you did not, they are playing into Saddams hands, they are showing him he can divide the West and that his tactics are working, and that he can keep on doing what he is doing and get away with his games while continuing to these build weapons. How can the protesters be seen as having a good argument yet no mention or plea to Saddam to do his part to avoid war? BTW, did these people forget about 9/11?

Also, when we Liberate Iraqi we will see "made in France" stamped all over the components for the nukes and other weapons and components, the French have betrayed us by selling these components and now are afraid what we will find, typical! N.A.T.O did the best thing yesterday, Ignore France!

that's a great point, not one person has brought up the fact that Saddam has completely refused to do just about anything to avoid the situation. Not one person has come out and said, Saddam, why don't you just tell us what we KNOW you have and this whole situation could be averted.

i ask again, why should we back down when we are not the ones doing anything wrong?

Good point nccalum, and another red flag some of you who disagree with US getting involved. WE ARE ALREADY INVOLVED! They crashed into our bulidings in our own country, let alone other embassies around the country. Saddam is a very funded man, and to think he had nothing to do with 9/11 is pure stupidity. Anyone with a brain and can put those two together. (I bet Saddam was thinking this) Hmmm lets get someone who is psycho enough to persuade people to suicide themselves in the country I've hated since I 've been in power. His best qualities are manipulation and evil. Why wouldn't he want to terrorize us? We kicked his behind the first time we met him and let him off the hook. Now he has too much for the whole world, not just the United States, to ignore him. He is a dictator not a president. That area is a whole bunch of messed up, so any force is necessary to protect our country from crazy lunatics who sacrifce themselves to create a mass murder.

On the topic of training terrorists in our own country. It is public knowledge that our country has provided this type of training. This I will admit to agreeing with. But it points back to this, many of our own citizens have committed horrible atrocities in our own country and they too were brought to justice. How is violence committed by someone from another country any different? Murder is murder. All of this chaos is threatening our economy, our happiness, people are buying duct tape for pete sake. This has to end somehow. Diplomatically or Forcefully, it must end.

I also agree with the power of free speech, this is the only thing seperating us from the rest. I will never forget the reason we are here in the first place. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and therefore has the right to be ignored. As my father always said, "when you can prove me wrong, then I will let you be right, Until then shut up".

Who took out that reactor before it went online?

Israeli's

I'm not too informed on the protests that took place in America, but over here in England, London had about 2 million people at their rally..... one of my roommates went down to the rally (she's French) and two other people I've met from here (Greek, Angolan)...

(speaking from this point of view)

I voted for traitors to the USA, no doubt... we've discussed on how helping these countries through the years have done nothing for us, despite helping them come out of such turmoil... and from talking to these people and others from other countries, they are totally against the US in this struggle.....

What I've found so amazing over here is the anti-senticism (not sure of spelling) of the Americans... I didn't realize it was so bad... the common perception is that we "want" war... I spend every day defending my country; I try to explain that America doesn't want war, we want cooperation, and we're not receiving, and that something needs to be done...

What's so odd, is that these same people, they agree that Sadam is a bad person and that his regime should not be in place... But what they don't understand, is that in order to successfully exceed in this task, it's going to have to take the help of other countries... It's not that I think the US can't go in on our own and disarm Iraq, but with a strong coalition, Sadam will be more pressured into giving into the damands set forward...

When I questioned my French roommate about the situation, she's in total support of disarming Iraq, but feels our first encounter with Sadam in the early 90s wasn't taken far enough, that we should of ousted him then, so to speak... Well, maybe this is true, but I also believe now is the time for Iraq to disarm, why? Because our commander in chief, the same man we as Americans voted into the White House says so, bottom line...

If you don't support what the President says, that's fine, it's your constitutional right, but their is a clear cut line between obeying your constitutional rights and being unpatirotic.... The anti-war demonstrations were fine, I'm sure the President doesn't want war, who does? But the true question within all this protesting is will these same people, if or when this time for military action comes, will they be there in support of America? This goes for all people, all nations.... hopefully I will be able to change my vote in the near future, when they start seeing things from this point of view......

BTW, Did any of these protesters noticed ALL of the new members of NATO are behind the USA? Those nations are ALL former Soviet satellite countries or are like Laftia (sp?) who were under Soviet occupation for years, I think they know a little about dictators and oppression! Isn't there anyone in France who remembers the German European tour? French Resistance? Ha ! Talk about a contradiction in terms!
