Reds Batting Order

It'll be interesting to see how many fastballs he'll get if Hamilton can ever reach base.

That's absolutely the truth.

I think Bruce will have a solid year. Similar to his last. I'd be surprised if his numbers were much different. Votto ain't hittin in the 2 hole. Wish he would and we had a suitable 3hole guy. But he ain't.

Bruce hit .262 last year with a .329 OBP. 30 HR & 109 RBI.

I think he could be in for a big year.

.......

Let's be honest, after the 4-hole, it is a .250 hitting slow white dude with limited power and a high strikeout rate. Put them in any order you want. This team has too many of the same guy. No pop at 3B, no pop in LF....really hard to win this way, being so dependent on getting a good start day-in and day-out.

I hope you're right. But really I'd be tickled if he had the same numbers. However, for this team to get to the postseason, I think he has to continue on an upward trend.

Overall, I agree with you. But it's been the same thing for the past couple years and they've managed to score runs.

Agreed on all accounts. :thumb:

Spring training is here. Time to start debating the batting order. Here is what I would like to see:

Hamilton

Votto

Phillips

Bruce

Frazier

Ludwick

Mesoraco

Cozart

Maybe their plan is to start off with a bunt onto first...

He has been working on his bunting in Arizona since January. Should be a pretty big part of his game.

You would think if he gets the ball to hit the bat and the ball goes fair anywhere, it is an automatic hit.

Every game should start like this:

1) Hamilton bunts for a hit (or walks).

2) Hamilton steals second base.

3) With first base now open, Votto doesn’t see a pitch and gets walked.

4) Phillips grounds into double play trying to hit a 3-run homer. Hamilton, running on the play, scores from second.

5) Bruce strikes out swinging.

6) JTM commercial.

20. That's how many times we'll reference this post in season because it will be 100% accurate.

Which is precisely the reason that I wouldn't bat Votto 2nd with Hamilton leading off. If you have the open base, which manager ISN'T going to walk Votto? I don't like taking the bat of out of the hand of my best hitter.

Hamilton

Phillips

Votto

Bruce

Ludwick

Mesoraco

Frazier

Cozart

.... with Matt Latos on the hill !
