February 14, 201412 yr Spring training is here. Time to start debating the batting order. Here is what I would like to see: Hamilton Votto Phillips Bruce Frazier Ludwick Mesoraco Cozart
February 14, 201412 yr Votto is going to actually produce like a 3 hole hitter should this year IMO. And I also think Frazier will have a better year as well. Hamilton Frazier Votto Bruce Phillips Ludwick Meso Cozart Bruce and Votto don't bat like the typical lefties. They can actually hit left handed pitching. I think those two back to back with Phillips following could be lethal.
February 14, 201412 yr Also I think Ludwick and Frazier could be interchangeable as well. Ludwick will be fine this year too. I'm an optimist if y'all couldn't tell.

February 14, 201412 yr Unless Frazier totally revamped his rearend fly out approach to the outer half he's gonna be no different. Couldn't possibly be a worse 2hole hitter. Can't hit behind a runner unless he cues it off the end.
February 14, 201412 yr Hamilton Phillips Votto Bruce Ludwick Mesoraco Frazier Cozart There's your opening day lineup boys, with the possible flip/flop of Meso and Frazier.
February 14, 201412 yr There's your opening day lineup boys, with the possible flip/flop of Meso and Frazier. I'm sure they'll probably have Frazier ahead of Meso, but I think Meso's the better player. Also, I think we'll see a much better year from Phillips if he's able to stay in the 2-hole the entire season.

That approach won't work from the 2 hole.
February 14, 201412 yr Votto is a 2 hole hitter. Have to build around that. Philips or Hamilton will be your leadoff hitter.
February 14, 201412 yr Hamilton Phillips Votto Bruce Ludwick Mesoraco Frazier Cozart Really worries about BP in the 2 hole but I can dig it.
February 14, 201412 yr Really worries about BP in the 2 hole but I can dig it. Surprisingly, Brandon's #'s have been almost identical (RBIs excluded) throughout his career, regardless of what spot in the lineup he's hitting, when taking into accounts spots 1-4. Ironically, although a small sample, he does his best work from the 7 or 8 spot.
February 14, 201412 yr There are only two questions, in my opinion: 1. Does Hamilton lead off? I think yes. 2. Who hits 2nd? BP or Ludwick? I think BP. Based on the foregoing, here's my lineup: 1. Hamilton - CF 2. Phillips - 2B 3. Votto - 1B 4. Bruce - RF 5. Ludwick - LF 6. Frazier - 3B 7. Meso - C 8. Cozart - SS I could see Bruce/Ludwick getting swapped to avoid consecutive lefties, but if this team is going to sniff the playoffs, Jay Bruce & Joey Votto have to produce like middle of the lineup hitters.
February 14, 201412 yr I don't know. I hope you're right, but the egomaniac liked driving in 100. That approach won't work from the 2 hole. It'll be interesting to see how many fastballs he'll get if Hamilton can ever reach base.
February 14, 201412 yr I think Bruce will have a solid year. Similar to his last. I'd be surprised if his numbers were much different. Votto ain't hittin in the 2 hole. Wish he would and we had a suitable 3hole guy. But he ain't.
