Grimes or McConnell?

Featured Replies

The choice is simple for KY you can vote for Grimes who will rubber stamp the Obama agenda. An agenda KY by a large margin voted against. You can vote for McConnell who may have his flaws has a shot to to be majority leader and hold great power for the state of KY. It's one of those elections like most where your going to have to choose which outcome is worse.

The worst outcome for the conservative base is to reward McConnell's career-long track record of bad political behavior at the ballot box on Election Day.

Worst than giving OBAMA another vote? If conservatives want to unseat Mitch they should do it in a primary election. I can't see how giving Obama another vote in the Senate is a better outcome for conservatives.

With the Senate very much in play and the House probably staying in Republican's hands, why do you think the worst outcome for the conservative base would be to elect McConnell? If you are a conservative, wouldn't you want control of the House and Senate? Not sure losing the opportunity in order to try to make a statment that's going to fall on deaf ears, no matter who gets elected, would be considered a better outcome for the conservative base.

I think Bevin can win the general election. I'll sleep well at night either way . Knowing I voted my heart.

Manitoudan and Know It All are right. Much better to vote one's conscience than to hold one's nose and vote for McConnell simply because he's the ringmaster of the big business Republicans.

McConnell has voted to raise the debt ceiling 9 times, voted for this past year's fiscal cliff deal, voted to fund Obamacare, voted for the bank bailout, voted for No Child Left Behind, voted for Medicare Part D. . .

As a staunch conservative, I'd rather have a liberal Democrat (Grimes) than a big government Republican like McConnell whose only real accomplishment is destroying the Republican brand and demoralizing our base.

My Mom would call that "biting your own nose off to spite your face".

There is NOTHING conservative about Mitch McConnell. He's a liberal Republican with a big government voting record and he's part of the R caucus that RUINED the Republican brand in the 2000s.

Rewarding a big government Republican at the polls will only give future Republican candidates an excuse to believe they can mobilize the conservative base and win an election without taking a stand for conservative values. Don't be so shortsighted, think long-term.

A Republican majority does NOT equate to a victory for conservatives...See the first few years of the Bush Administration (Federal overhaul of education, Medicare Part D, Patriot Act)... McConnell may be a Republican, but he does not hold conservative principles and it demoralizes our base when guys like him who are supposed to defend conservative principles vote for big government.

Like I said then a conservative should run against him in the primary and win. Voting for a more liberal candidate doesn not benefit conservatives. We are in complete disagreement. The Senate is open for the taking and would eliminate any and all of Obama's agenda for the rest of his term. Conservatives would be misguided not to jump on this.

Thinking that McConnell is LESS bad than Grimes therefore we should vote for him is BEYOND wrong. Conservatives have gotten our butts kicked for the past 100 years, and Mitch has proven himself as an enemy to those who want to decrease the size of government. Don't fall into the "I have to support the lesser of two evils" trap because that's why we keep losing in the long-term.

A Republican majority means nothing if the majority of Republicans vote liberal.

"more liberal candidate. . ."

McConnell can't get much more liberal: No Child Left Behind, TARP, Medicare Part D, Obamacare, Fiscal Cliff Deal, raised debt ceiling. I can keep going...

My vote for McConnell in the general (I'm a registered Democrat so I can't vote in the primary) will be a vote of conscience.

If I could vote in the primary I would also vote for McConnell there. Bevin can not compete with the money that the Dems nationwide will pour in here if he wins the primary. I don't think he can win the general and IMVHO the worst thing that could happen in November is for the Republicans to squander another opportunity.

It's an outsiders year, give someone else a chance.

McConnell vs Grimes 42% - 42%

Bevin vs Grimes 40% - 36%

Election 2014: Kentucky Senate - Rasmussen Reports?

If Bevin win the primary and you will see a huge flow of conservative money matching anything the opponent can throw out .
