Beechwood 2014

Solid. If these commitments stick, I would say advantage Tigers with X, UK, and UofL. I.

Agreed. High level.

Congrads to all the players who have worked hard and will continue their baseball careers at the next level. There are allot of very good ball players who will never be referred to as a "D1" player. Some kids just never intend to go to college. It could be grades or that they may be more interested in a trade.

I agree, Slusher should see his fair share of fastballs and will be a key in helping in uping run support from last year. Feiger's with his command of the strike zone when Combs and Stringer struggle could give them wins that eluded them last year keeping Beechwood from the state tourney.

Yep. Tigers, say hello to the bullseye. They saw a lot of bottom of the rotation guys last year. The big 3, no big deal, when you wear a Flames or Midland jersey that's an every day thing. How will the rest of the team perform seeing top flight pitchers everyday?

It may be hard for the other players on the team now that they will face everyone's best pitcher. Should probably get used to it by mid season.

Slusher will also be D1 before it is all said and done.

Fieger might be as well.

I am all about kids being kids, and truly admire the dedication it takes to juggle three sports. That said, unless you are a complete freak its very tough to not pick up a baseball from August to March and improve at the level you need to improve. My kids favorite sport was football, but he realized it was a distant third on his ability scale, and gave it up. Two sports is still a full time commitment.

Fieger might be as well.

IMO Jake Schmidt, Beechwood's catcher, will get some D1 looks.

Welcome to BGP, DatNKYdude68!

Thank you

It would be great if they actually faced everyone's best pitchers but that will never happen. Teams can't always save their best pitchers for a team like Beechwood due to the schedules and rain outs etc. just doesn't happen. Cooper beat Beechwood last year without their best pitcher on the mound and I'm sure other schools did also. It's just not feasible to save your #1 for Beechwood unless you have the days between games to plan that. Beechwood is very good, but they aren't unstoppable.

My guess is that the only teams that they are guaranteed to see the number ones from would be Cov Cath and others in their district. I don't think other coaches will be that concerned with a game against Beechwood to shuffle their rotation. District seeding games are much more important to a coach , than a game against a perceived top team IMO.

Agreed I see what you're saying.

Teams playing Beechwood need to worry as much about hitting Beechwood's pitching as they are about Beechwood's offense. I believe they had the lowest ERA in the region and all starters back. Lead the region in homers. I don't see how coach Mullins can sleep at night! Lol

Tough call for a coach. Get to game, Louisvill, UC, UK etc there to watch. Wouldnt you afford your ace a shot at the showcase opportunity? Kid shuts em down maybe they take notice?

I don't know one high school coach in the area known for getting baseball players opportunities on the next level besides Mullins. He is going to get the best players to transfer in for the opportunity he affords. The days of the high school team being about the showboating coach are are over and what he can do for the player is the new norm. It was time for the change. To be clear most of the work done for Beechwood players was done by the Flames and Midland, but Mullins has done his fair share. IMO
