I didn't catch the name but I heard the guy say he would bring a division I level of wide receiver with him. I've seen the guy who said that at every Boyle County sporting event I've ever been to but I don't know him well enough to know if he actually knows or not.

If its an inside the system hire no.

 

If there is NOT a teaching job tagged to the Head Football Coach Job, then no.

 

If the plan/are filling a teaching slot with the Head Football Coach, yes.

 

I did some asking last night as to how this is handled. I was told that you can hire a coached outside the system without waiting 30 days for coaching, if he plans to teach that job has to wait the 30 days. So, If I understand this right Boyle can name a football coach anytime they want and if he plans to teach that job is not official for 30 days after posted. Would this be correct?

Things like talent, support, feeder system, boosters, school district lines...things of that nature. IMO South Warren is better equipped to sustain success on the football field than Lincoln County. To go from a brand new school whose first year of football was strictly a JV schedule to arguably the #3 program in Warren County in less than a decade is a noteworthy accomplishment.

 

And they are likely only going to get better.

 

I can't make a comparison because I don't know anything about South Warren but I will say that the "lack of resources" rap put on Lincoln County is not accurate. I think this started when Larry French left Lincoln County in 2008, using some vague "resources" excuses. When asked what he needed that he didn't have, he declined to discuss it and said he was moving on.

From what I have gathered when South Warren was established their school district lines that were formed gave them a nice advantage over the other county schools when it came to talent and money. It is a very very nice school with a lot of the nicer neighborhoods making up the population of South Warren. I wouldn't be surprised if they pass Warren Central athletically in a lot of sports. Football included.

For the record, Travis Leffew has been the Offensive Coordinator at LC for the past season or two. He is also the assistant Athletic Director and would have been the Athletic Director but didn't have the requisite number of years' experience. Travis and Bobby seem to be really tight with Head Coach Mike Settles. They all seem pretty happy.

If my opinion is worth anything, (which my wife says it never is)...I think it will be a new name that not a lot of people around the BC area know about. Of course I would love to see my buddy John Hodge get the job, but he is setup so well at Bourbon that I don't know if he would leave? Horse farm money flowing in, and plenty of transfers, he seems pretty happy. Who knows though? I've seen crazier things happen! One thing we know for sure, is this will be exciting to watch.

My concern with Bourbon is if the realignment plays out the way I've seen it. Bourbon road to state got a lot tougher.

You're right. Maybe Hodge sees that and that makes the Boyle job a better situation. (never thought I would say Bourbon could possibly be a better job than Boyle). I know John and his family personally and he loves this area...(Boyle/Garrard) area. Only time will tell right?

I will guarantee 1000% that John Hodge would take the Boyle job if it was offered to him.
