January 22, 201412 yr ... Matt Elam's recruiting reminds me a great deal of Gary Harris' when he was still in high school. Gary seemingly fell in love with the process, with being wooed by several fan bases, and he drug it out as long as possible to soak it all up before committing to Michigan State. His handling of it turned a lot of people off, and that was before he selected Sparty as his ultimate college decision (which then turned about 3 or 4 other fan bases against him with a vitriol that bordered on ridiculous). I know nothing of this kid as a person, but the level of frustration / ire towards a kid who hasn't been in trouble seems a little odd. I get it, with how long he is dragging it out, and if he is honestly torn, than he should take all the time he needs. My hunch is it is more of a "loving the process" deal, but even with that, no reason for all of these subtle anti-Elam posts. How many of us, if multiple huge fan bases were loving us and hanging on our every word, wouldn't soak it up a little too? Let the kid enjoy it.

Did you ever for a second think there's more factoring into his decision than that? I mean things like leaving behind all your family and friends, or what group of players you get along best with, or what school is a better fit, etc. probably play a part in his decision.
January 23, 201412 yr Everyone knows Matt will need to lose 30-40 pounds when he hits his college program. How hard do you guys think it will be for a guy that size to accomplish this task while working out under college trainers? I played a little college football myself and was a pretty big guy. I had no trouble cutting weight when I had no choice but to run my butt off with everyone else. It's amazing what a person can do when you are pushed beyond your limits and you have to get up the next day and do it all over. We had guys disappear in the middle of the night because they couldn't handle it. I don't think Matt will be one of those guys, and I say he drops the weight easily within the first 4-6 weeks. Coach Cochran's 4th Quarter program won't have any problem dropping the weight off of anyone. Roll Tide!

I was sitting in front of one of Elam's relatives, he said they were doing this to try and sway his decision. He also said it was probably 50/50 right now between Alabama and UK. I thought he said he was an uncle or something like that.
