I get where you're coming from, but sometimes it's the little things. Cal really liked his play, as evidence by the emphatic high five he gave him when he came out of the game. He also raved about him in the post game, something to the effect of ''what a post feeder he is!'' I'm not saying he was all conference or anything but I thought he played well. I think he can help this team, especially against the zone

I think that is why he was in there. However he went 0-2 in that one purpose he was in for. I think he has the tools to do that but he hasn't shown it yet. Hope he gets another chance.

Right but you guys are only looking at the shooting numbers. He still got the ball inside against the zone and it led to three or four nice looks. Instead of passing the ball around the perimeter a half dozen times before they try to do anything with it, they moved the zone to the corner by getting it to Willis and then Willis would get it inside before the defense could collapse. All season long these guys have been late feeding the post and it has led to the double and triple teams on Randle and some of the others (one of the recent games maybe UL they actually tripled Dakari once!). Randle making all of those moves doesn't help things but when he gets the ball it is usually already to late so then he just has to try to do something with it. Willis was allowing the big guys to get the ball in one on one situations before anyone could help or before the zone packed back inside. It led to some of the best offensive flow against the zone that we have seen all year. Not to mention to beat the zone you have to get the ball inside first, whether it's inside out or between the elbows, you have to get it inside at least once.

As mentioned previously, my friends and I noticed the good passing into the post immediately by Willis too. The fact that this has been mentioned this many times shows how bad the passing into the post has been. Other than that, he wasn't much of a factor, however, I do like seeing him get some PT. He is a good shooter and someone that can stretch the zone a little bit to make it easier for UK to score. The biggest worry with him, just like Lee, is that he gets lost on defense at times which is the biggest reason for his lack of playing time this season. This team keeps improving though, can't wait to see the game tomorrow, that will be a heck of a test.

I can't speak for others but I think it threw me way off that anyone would say he played "really well" as you did in the first post about it. Because I simply didn't see anything special at all that would attribute to that accolade for that game. He made a couple good post feeds and didn't hurt us on the defensive end. Maybe that is as good as its going to get for Willis this year, but with as well as he can shoot and his length, I'd like to see him get a little more done with his sparse minutes to truly prove he needs more before I can praise his play.

At the end of the day, he's what a typical freshman across the country should be and I look forward to watching him develop through his time at UK.

Team has played better the past couple games when Randle is on the pine. He's got a bad case of "all about me".

I don't think the Cats can afford to play Willis only for the purpose of feeding the post. But I'll say this about the young man: he does not look lost or scared at all on the court.

I have never gotten that from Randle. I just haven't seen his game grow at all from the beginning of the year and teams are defending him differently and the team doesn't know how to react.

Going 1 vs. 3 is without question all about me. I can count on one hand the number of times he's passed out of the low block all year. I don't think it's a surprise at all they've looked the best when he's been on the bench lately. He's a hell of a player, but he has to learn how to play as part of a team if they want to accomplish their goals this year, or if he wants to be successful at the next level.

That's the main thing, you would think being his first real shot of action he would have showed more nerves than that. That's what impressed me, he was calm and collected and knew what to do with the ball when he got it. He was playing within the rhythm of the game, not out there trying to force things.

Hate to hear that, its what Cal gets for bringing in boys more used to having there rear end kissed than working nose to the grind stone. IMO

Not sure where this statement is really coming from. I'd be willing to bet Randle is one of the hardest workers on the team.

He's just having a little difficulty in adjusting to finding his spots with the way opponents are defending him/them with their zones.

Yeah Randles a worker, part of his problem is he sometimes goes too hard thus leading to cramps and extreme fatigue.

Randle is getting fouled virtually every time he shoots in the paint, and is not getting any calls, especially in the 2 SEC games. It's hard to look very good when this is happening, but he did have 11 rebounds in the first half against Vandy.

Now you know if you say bad things about my boy I will have to come through this computer and give you a time out.....:lol2: JK.

Julius is one of the hardest working players on the floor. You are way off base in this assumption IMO. What about the other players helping him out and working to get the ball when he is triple teamed.
