Americans Now Consume More Butter Than Anytime In Last 40 Years

Featured Replies

I've believe it. I'm cutting back quite a bit in 2014. Trying to get that diet on.

Kind of a weird fact that I know everyone couldn't go the rest of the day without knowing.

Me neither. Now I can move on to the next thing. :lol2:

I know of a lot of people -- myself included -- who swore off margarine for real butter. I haven't bought anything but butter for nearly 10 years.

I just don't like the oily consistency of margarine, or the taste.

One of my major diet killers was popcorn with extra, extra butter. I would tell the counter person at our local movie theatre that if I wasn't a bit nauseous when I left, there wasn't enough butter on it. :wtf:

This was one of my guilty pleasure I cut waaay back on last year, and it made a difference. However, now my wife mentions we don't ever go to the movies.....well?

Of course the movie butter is mostly fake....it was the popcorn at home that wasn't.

A little trick I learned from my daughter who works at a movie theater. Ask them to layer your popcorn with butter. They will fill the bowl up half way, apply butter, top off with the rest of the popcorn and add more butter! You will definitely be nauseous after that!

It has been forever since I have been to the movies but it sounds like some theaters now give you the popcorn and you go to a butter dispenser and put it on yourself? They were talking about it on Bob and Tom and Tom said he will put a straw on the nozzle of the dispenser and work the straw down into the popcorn to get the butter down there.

Is it true that most popcorn is not even popped at the theater now? It is brought in bags and only enough is popped for the smell to be spread through the lobby?

In Wilder, they pop the corn there and no do it yourself butter dispensers...

I am kind of bummed....our theatre in Frankfort has closed for good. According to the news reports it is because they were sued from a hearing-impaired person because they did not have suitable accommodations for them and settled out of court for $5,000. I believe the theatre was already experiencing financial difficulties due to my cutback.

Thanks, Paula Dean...

Was just talking about this with my wife yesterday, does anyone use the Butter Door in their refrigerator for butter anymore? Ours had 4 boiled eggs, two packs of fast food grape jelly and a travel size Tabasco...Butter was on a shelf in the refrigerator...

Whats in your butter door?

Thats what most sports and entertainment venues do yes.

Butter or what passes passes for butter? And to be clear what goes on your popcorn at a movie theater isn't butter.
