Over Analysis Reason Number 1: I don't shut up much. Even when I tell myself "C'mon Beebs, put a lid on it", I just can't. It's like a compulsion. I always have another thing to add, I always have another thing to add, I always have another thing to add. If I do chat you up, then I worry forever that I came off like a nonstop chatting nut case. First, as evidenced by this post, you are correct – you go on and on and never shut the hell up. You’ll fit right in. Not wanting to shut the hell up is why people come to places like BGP. Just ask around and they’ll tell you that I too never shut the hell up – as evidenced by this OCD response. Over Analysis Reason Number 2: I admit that when posting, at times I've succumbed to the urge to hide behind my anonymity and voice my thoughts in a somewhat smug and conceited fashion… We all hide behind our personas and say crap that we would never say in the real world. When you meet face to face there are different social norms and rules of decorum. Online, we can all play the little boy who throws the snowball and then hides behind a tree. You’ll fit right in. BGP members over the years have grown into an exclusive club of intelligent and interesting proponents of thought provoking and informative discussion. I've learned so much from all of you, and have come to realize what a valuable tool all of you have been in my continued learning. Well, now you’ve gone and called us all tools, so we may have to beat you senseless…but then you’ll fit right in. Over Analysis Reason Number 3: I really don't drink much anymore…but am thinking that if I don't drink, what do I do at a brewery? I'm assuming that this bit of over analysis is unwarranted, and that I could either have a couple of beers, or settle for something else. I can't imagine that it would matter to anyone else if I sat and drank Shirley Temple's all night long. You can sit with the half-dozen or so of us in this thread who have already stated that we aren’t drinkers. And I’m a stone’s throw away from an addictions therapy license, so I’ll be there to cut you off…unless I’m wasted. But nevertheless, you’ll fit right in. Over Analysis Reason Number 4: I can be as equally shy and socially awkward, having me wonder which one of me will show up. After having just done a quick search, I can rule out "bipolar disorder" as a reason, but I'm certain there must be a clinical definition out there somewhere to describe me. Wait... I just found it. It's called "Kooky". Also majoring in clinical mental health, so I’ve got ya’ covered on “kooky” too…unless I’m too depressed. But every previous meet-up of BGPers has exhibited an extremely high level of “kookiness.” So you’ll fit right in. Over Analysis Reason Number 5: I've certainly noticed over the years from reading posts that many members do meet and know each other outside of this site, and from what I can tell have had a positive and fun exchange in doing so. I've never heard of any negative feedback from this as it sounds like many cool friendships have been made, and the experience of being a member has been enhanced. On the flip side of that thought I'm thinking that once I cross that line of anonymity then "The cat is out of the bag”… We’ve all let our cats out of our bags, and so far, no cats have been harmed in the making of a BGP meet-up. So stop living on the flip side. You’ll fit right in. Over Analysis Reason Number 6: I nervously think that I'll be overly self-conscious to have bared my soul in such detail, that going in, everyone will already have the preconceived idea that I'm downright "Kooky", and if so, It's my own dang fault for giving all of you this impression. If you can do some really good impressions, you’ll be the life of the party! Or I could show up to the party where all of you have come prepared with the men in the white suits and have me carted off. You’ll fit right in.:jump:
