This looks like nothing but trouble. :lol2:

Would love to attend, but will be involved in the Gateway Classic at Montgomery County.

Make it a game. Have each of us stand up in front of the group and allow a limited number of questions and then a limited number of guesses of who each is. But name tags would be good too.

Digging this idea... That could be hilarious. :thumb:

Thanks for the invite!

This get together sounds very cool!

In over analyzing everything like I normally do, I'm having a personal struggle about going, but not because I don't think that it could be a blast, or that you're not all interesting cool people, or that I'm not curious as heck to finally put a face on all the folks I've been reading posts from all these years...

Why then you may ask?

I answer and post my answer with a bit a nervousness and inner struggle of whether or not to actually post it for fear that you'll all think that I'm some kind of kook. But perhaps you already do, so that's no major earth shattering news. So what else is new.

Over Analysis Reason Number 1:

Y'ever been to a basketball game where you excitedly, and on impulse, turn to make a quick comment to a stranger sitting in close proximity to you about something wild that just happened on the court, and that one quick comment triggers that person to chat you up for the rest of the game, making you constantly have to turn away from the action to pay them attention, now making you lose the comfortable flow you were in watching the game, and you start regretting ever having initiated the contact?

Well... That guy is me.

I don't shut up much.

Y'all might've noticed from some of my posts how much this is true... and here we go again...

Just ask Clyde ... He can testify to this.

Y'know why Clyde pees standing on one leg?

Because I talked his arm and leg off, and he now only has one leg to stand on.

Typically when I go to games, I purposely sit alone for the benefit of not disrupting anyone's game watching experience, as well as my own. When running my mouth without end, I throw off even my own flow of the game. Even when I tell myself "C'mon Beebs, put a lid on it", I just can't. It's like a compulsion. I always have another thing to add, I always have another thing to add, I always have another thing to add.

As bad as I am at it, I know that I'm not the only one, because at games I've encountered some who are even worse about it than me, then when I see them at future games, I have to awkwardly skirt by them to avoid the inevitable misery.

So how does this factor into my decision of attending a BGP party?

Scenario: I meet everyone at the party. Now when attending games we're compelled to say "Hi"... and it starts all over again. We'd have to awkwardly skirt past each other at games to avoid it. Then I appear to be anti-social and unfriendly. Then for the rest of the game, and the rest of my life, I nervously worry about coming off like an idiot. If I do chat you up, then I worry forever that I came off like a nonstop chatting nut case.

See my dilemma?

Over Analysis Reason Number 2:

Without having the foresight that I'd ever meet any of you in person, I admit that when posting, at times I've succumbed to the urge to hide behind my anonymity and voice my thoughts in a somewhat smug and conceited fashion, allowing my true self, or perhaps just my alter ego to have the floor. Now I meet someone I unintentionally ticked off.

"AWKWARD".

Now on to my sheepish disclaimer and apology in the event that I attend:

I assure you all that I have complete respect and admiration for each and everyone of you. BGP members over the years have grown into an exclusive club of intelligent and interesting proponents of thought provoking and informative discussion. Most of what I know about anything anymore in recent times is because I've heard about it from all of you. Your input has become my primary source for current events beyond anything else. I've learned so much from all of you, and have come to realize what a valuable tool all of you have been in my continued learning. If I'm undeserving of respect from any of you, it's because I've shot my own self in the foot, and am nervously, and embarrassingly asking for your forgiveness.

Over Analysis Reason Number 3:

I really don't drink much anymore mostly for health reasons. I've been known to have a beer or two or three or four or ... just kidding as I assure you that I've never really had a drinking problem, although I've had my share, and typically have good control of my limits, but am thinking that if I don't drink, what do I do at a brewery?

I'm assuming that this bit of over analysis is unwarranted, and that I could either have a couple of beers, or settle for something else. I can't imagine that it would matter to anyone else if I sat and drank Shirley Temple's all night long. To be completely honest, I'm not really sure what's in a Shirley Temple, and assure you that I won't be ordering them. Warning though: If I do drink, this chatty guy could turn into "chatty guy with a completely disabled off switch".

Y'all ready for that?

Over Analysis Reason Number 4:

After having overly explained that I can be a person who never shuts up, believe it or not, in Jekyll & Hyde fashion, I can be as equally shy and socially awkward, having me wonder which one of me will show up. After having just done a quick search, I can rule out "bipolar disorder" as a reason, but I'm certain there must be a clinical definition out there somewhere to describe me. Wait... I just found it. It's called "Kooky".

Over Analysis Reason Number 5:

Since being a member since January of 2002 I've managed to remain anonymous with only having two members that I am certain who know who I am. In the early days of blogging this anonymity seemed like a wise choice, as I'm thinking that most bloggers have felt, for reasons of privacy and security. I've certainly noticed over the years from reading posts that many members do meet and know each other outside of this site, and from what I can tell have had a positive and fun exchange in doing so. I've never heard of any negative feedback from this as it sounds like many cool friendships have been made, and the experience of being a member has been enhanced. I'm certainly tempted to venture across that line that so many others have and open myself up more to not just be known as the guy with the alien/basketball head. BGP is a sorta unique site and the idea of meeting all of you doesn't sound at all scary or unwise, as say... agreeing to meet up with a bunch of random strangers from the comment section of a news page. So in essence it really doesn't sound like a bad idea at all, and really could be pretty cool.

On the flip side of that thought I'm thinking that once I cross that line of anonymity then "The cat is out of the bag", "The bird is out of its cage", "The laundry is out of the dryer", "The dog is out of the kennel", or any other way you might think of saying that, and then there's no turning back. Eleven years of anonymity gone. So what's so bad about that? I don't know really except for maybe perhaps "Over Analysis Reason Number 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 6"???

Over Analysis Reason Number 6:

Now that I've over analyzed everything, and have openly expressed it here, I nervously think that I'll be overly self-conscious to have bared my soul in such detail, that going in, everyone will already have the preconceived idea that I'm downright "Kooky", and if so, It's my own dang fault for giving all of you this impression.

I'm thinking that perhaps by having aired out all of my concerns, I'll get along just fine, and that everything will be o.k. because it'll help me feel content in knowing that since I've been so open about everything, I would have gotten all of this "Kookieness" out of the way, and no one will think anything of it.

... Or I could show up to the party where all of you have come prepared with the men in the white suits and have me carted off.

Hmmm??? :idunno:

What to do, what to do???

Just quit thinking, shut up and attend. I haaven't noticed any rocket scientists here.....or extremely deep thinkers. I honestly won't notice what anyone drinks and probably what most say.

B-Ball-fan, trust me when I say you're worrying about nothing. If rockmom and I can meet and I'm still alive, you're good. :lol2:

Seriously, don't over analyze it, you will drive yourself crazy.

Suggestion 1: You go and don't worry about any of the scenarios because none of your worries will come to pass.

Suggestion 2: You go and use a pseudo user name and if you run into one of us down the line, you blame it on the dunkel. :lol2:

That post gave me a headache, lol! Just go, you'll be the life of the party.

Thanks for the invite!

Here...let me share a secret with you. Despite my outspokenness, I am one of the most socially awkward people ever born. However, after meeting a few of these folks, I learned there a even MORE socially awkward people out there. :D. And such a group works! RTS didn't shoot me, leatherneck hasn't sued me, and cammando helped me with car buying advice. I haven't met Hellbird. I'm just hoping I don't embarrass the state of Kentucky in his eyes, if I'm able to make it. :D. And ask Birdsfan...the definition of me is wackadoo.

:lol2: Thought that might be where you going with that.

Heck no! In fact I'm glad I got to meet you and I consider you a friend since.

If B-Ball-fan plays his cards right, one of us might send him a bottle of wine with a label that's somewhat in the likeness of the sender. ;)

This comment alone is one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

B-Ball-fan, I was nervous as I could be the first time I went to a BGP gathering. I ended up with some lifelong friends every since. One that I watch American Idol and really bad SyFy with and one that I keep on the phone for hours a couple of Saturday nights a month. :lol2:

RTS, put me on the maybe list.
