December 15, 201312 yr I think it is just taking time to figure out what they want to do on offense. I remember the Brandon Knight team it took awhile to figure out that pick and roll was the best option for them. So, I am waiting on them to figure the "go to" offense.

I would like to see some more traditional dribble drive sets with the Harrison twins, myself. The lack of understanding of consistent defense is more concerning to me. You would figure a team with the country's best shot blocker wouldn't give up so many shots in the lane. No excuse for our pick and roll defense to be as bad as it is.
December 15, 201312 yr I'm gonna rave about couple things. 1. Refs were horrible...Calling little touch fouls on Kentucky and letting Carolina get away with pushing and shoving Kentucky players to the floor, 3 times. 2. Kentucky is horrible at free throw shooting....Cal needs to have practice just for shooting free throws...I've seen high schools that shoot better free throws 3. I'll be glad once Cal stops all this nonsense with these ones and dones...they are killing Kentucky basketball....Only reason why Kentucky won the national title couple years ago was because they had leadership on that team, this year they don't and probably won't have it as long as Cal is here and we probably won't win another national title. Kentucky needs to a be a program first school instead of a player first....If Cal continues with these ones and done's then I think it's time for him to go. Are you serious???? If we don't get the best players, which are usually now the one and dones you will be complaining that he can't recruit. You have to go after the best players you can get. some of you people just need to have some patients with this team. They are playing as individuals, once they get that team concept....what out. I posted before. Once Cal has them in practice for the Christmas break we will see a difference. I opted to drive 50 minutes to watch two high school teams play. It's not even Christmas and I have had it with this team. Disappointed in you. I still believe they will be fine come January. Have patience. I will never give up on them.

December 15, 201312 yr Why all the negative posts. Lots of bright spots I could see. First Andrew is playing so much better. Arron is playing better than I thought he would for us period. POY, came to play tonight. I do believe that early foul trouble played into the loss. Players afraid to really play defense, afraid of fouling. Patience BBN...They WILL gel, then watch out.

I posted before. Once Cal has them in practice for the Christmas break we will see a difference. Arizona has good players, their ranked #1....Oklahoma State has the best player in the nation in Marcus Smart they're ranked in the top 10 (If I'm not mistaken). Ohio State has good players they're ranked 3rd. What do all those teams have in common? THEY ALL HAVE LEADERSHIP WITH PLAYERS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE 2-3 YEARS. Kentucky has ones and done's. Cal also made it clear when he first got here that he wasn't worried about national titles, he's more worried about getting players to the NBA. I love UK and a big UK fan but as bad as I hate to say it, I don't see UK winning another national title with these one and done's unless he gets some players to stay 2-3 years like we did with Miller and all them. I'll stand by my comments, If he continues to get these one's and done's then I think it's time for him to go.

I do agree with the Harrison's playing much better today then they have all seasons. Randle was MIA. I have to disagree with you tho on them coming together. I've heard it year in and year out. Oh this team will be awesome, they'll be hard to beat, 40-0, if they lose couple games don't worry they will gel together, I've heard that ever since Cal came here and each year it's the same result, win a game or two in the NCAA tournament then it's see ya later, we're going home. I guess we'll just have to see if this year turns out.

December 15, 201312 yr Author Look at Kansas, he is now getting the best players...one and dones and is having the same problems as we are right NOW. So who on UK team this year would you not have recruited????? The only one that I can think of that's being called a one and done at Kansas is Andrew Wiggins. I would have recruited them but I'd say that Cal tells them more behind the scenes then what we know. All Cal is worried about is getting players to the NBA. That's why Kentucky gets the top players, so they can go to college for a year then off to the NBA. I'm just gonna say that I don't see Kentucky winning another national title as long as Cal is here and he continues with these one and done's.

I asked who on UK's team would you not have recruited?

POY, came to play tonight. I do believe that early foul trouble played into the loss. Players afraid to really play defense, afraid of fouling. Patience BBN...They WILL gel, then watch out. Agree we will gel. Both Harrisons seem to be playing better. I just really worry about the leadership on this team with the body language that the Harrisons and Randle display. It's not a Cousins' body language issue. With him, it appeared he was emotional about wanting to win. With the Harrisons and Randle, it seems to be more "I'm not getting my offensive numbers" because they don't seem to do it on defense. That's just how I take it and is why it worries me. See one of them mess up on the offensive end and instead of putting their head down and getting back, they look around and complain, then it leads to a breakdown on the defensive end (or at least a greater chance of one occurring). I don't really see someone on this team who really takes being scored on personally. With MKG and Liggins, we had that. Not sure we do this year. I think those kinds of things can rub off on the team and need to change. They need to step up and be leaders by doing things the way Young and Hawkins do. Agree 110% on early foul trouble cooling us off. We really took a dive when Aaron Harrison picked up his second foul early in the first half and was benched.

This is what he had to say after the game about it: Cal: "What we have now is…we’re not a good basketball team. Because all of our emotion is based on individual play." He went on to say that his 2011 team had the same problem, gelled in Jan and went to final 4. Thought he had the best team, but U-Con had the best player.
