I think you would be hard pressed to come up with a more exciting game than the Highlands Collins title game today.

both teams left it all out on the field. Everytime Collins would score, highlands answered right back. This game had everything in it including a cinderella finish.

Highlands showed the champinship caliber team that they are by never giving up and going out there possesion after possesion and doing whatever they had to do to drive down the field for TD's.

Collins never seemed to get rattled which all led to the greatest finish in my memory of any State Title game.

Collins leading by as many as 9 points late in the game. Highlands doing what Highlands does best and continued to drive down field and schore when they had to. Erasing a 9 point deficit to go up with less than 2 mins left in the game.

This set up the perfect hollywood script. Highlands scoring the go ahead TD kicks off to Collins. On their first offensive play on the last drive Collins goes for it all and hooks up for what many thought was the go ahead TD pass on a 50+ yard score only to have the receiver step out of bounds beofre reaching the endzone. TD called back and Collins ball on the 30. With only 1 Timeout left, Collins was able to drive down inside the 20 where Highlands D steps up and stops Collins on 3 straight downs. Time for the movie magic...On 3rd Down Collins QB has his helmet come off, by KHSAA rules if a players helmet comes off without being pulled off, that player must sit out a play. So it's now 4th down, less than 15 secs left and the starting QB has to sit out a play. Collins looks to their backup QB who has to come off the bench for the biggest play in not only the game, or the biggest play of the season, but the biggest play in school history. A chance to beat the 6 time defending state champion Highland BlueBirds. This young man comes in with icewater in his veins and on 4th and game he delivers a 12 yard strike for a TD to win the State Championship with only 7 seconds left in the game.

Wow....it doesn't get any better or more exciting than that imo.

Michael Bush and Brian Brohm beg to differ.

59-56

Haha, you are probably right but I still take this one. IF not for the second string qb coming in cold off the bench with the game on the line, doesn't get any better than that.

The Trinity Vs Male 59 to 56 game and the NCC miracle comeback versus Danville in 2006 would have to be right up there with this one.

That was a great game but was two forces against each other, tonight was a huge upset. People remember upsets forever.

Boyle County/Lone Oak 2009.

What grade is the backup QB for Collins?

I suppose then that "greatest" is in the eye of the beholder. I think people have remembered that game quite a time already and will always remember it. This one will probably live a long time too. It was a great game, for certain.

I saw that one in person, first state game I ever attended. Definitely a top notch game.

We've seen some classics for sure for state titles. This one though will be my favorite just because of the hollywood ending.

When they said the backup QB had to come in for the last play I could hear my wife now if it was my son who had to come in with the game on the line sitting in the stands lol, she'd be saying "No!!! Please anyone but him!!!" lol she couldn't handle the stress of her son being put in that position and that is all i thought about for the kid who had to come in, what his mother in the stands must of been thinking when she saw him come in.

Something I think maybe we can all agree on is that this has proven to be the best full slate of games in a long, long time. Only the Mayfield game has been non-competitive so far.

True...

I was at that Male/Trinity game and to this day still the best game I have ever watched.

The only bad part besides Male losing(And yes I will take a hit again for this next part) was all of the young students from Trinity that set close to where I was smoking)
