I haven't been able to find a mention of this anywhere....Where did you see it?

 

Heard it on Sportscenter this morning. Alamo Bowl press conference was in San Antonio today and I think they were trying to build up their own coverage of it too.

 

 

One interesting note, Red McCombs, who owned the Spurs at one time and is one of the richest people in Texas (and contributes like it), made his presence known at the press conference and said he thought Mack should be able to go out "on his own terms".

Alabama officially announced it.

I have to wonder (and I am not putting anyone down for it), did anyone actually buy the notion that Saban would really go to Texas ? I agree that Texas is one of the very few "elite" coaching jobs in the country but Alabama is as well. Saban was a FG return away from a more than legit shot at a third consecutive national championship.

But I heard Saban's wife had been house shopping there with a high-priced Realtor. And that Saban himself had flown in under the cover of darkness to sign a contract on a house outside of Austin. How is he going to get out of that?

 

Seriously though, some of these rumors reminded me of UK's coaching searches with prospective coaches/wives purchasing thoroughbreds at Keeneland, to tracking other universities' private jets into and out of LEX, and, of course, "the door."

Not pointing you out but when local rumors start and people say I heard that ......., I asked who did you hear it from and they have no answer. I always wonder who actually starts some of the rumors that get started.

Texas has already had back door talks with a few coaches, stuff will leak as the bowls approach then the Coach can decide how to exit.
