Oh we believe in them whole heartedly. But because we haven`t played the tougher schedule than NCC , we don`t have a chance according to everyone on here. The only prediction I have made is I don`t think the game will be a blowout. If NCC some how has an off night, and we have a great night, it could be interesting. I`m sure that comment will rub some the wrong way, but we aren`t going into this game to lose.

Just because those that support them don't openly call for a blowout win against a powerhouse school doesn't mean they don't think they will or aren't supporting them.

Coach, The tone is low, but I just think that's more respect (earned from State Championships) for the opponent than lack of confidence in their team. They will be in front of the home fans and IMO should leave it all on the field. Can't ask for more than that.

I support and believe in the Wildcats. Sometimes, it is just best to keep quiet until Friday Nights. The NKY fan base has spoken and as presumed they are predicting a blowout. The heart and soul of Gallatin County will be supportive, loud, and ready to go tomorrow night. After 48 minutes of football, the winner will be declared. Everyone who is a Gallatin County supporter and has followed GC throughout the entire year is not accepting defeat! I can promise you that! Go Cats!

I agree with this 100%. Each team starts the season with a set of goals used to define what a successful season would be. All schools except 6 throughout the state will end the season with a loss and that loss does not equate to an unsuccessful season. Schools like Highlands, Trinity, Bowling Green, Mayfield and to some extent NCC and Beechwood set their goal at winning the state tournament. Other programs may set goals that are more in line with their tradition or what the anticipated talent pool is for a particular season.

 

It appears to me that Gallatin may have already accomplished most of what they would have set out to do this season. They finished 4th in the district last year and turned that into a 1st place finish this season. They have amassed a 10-2 record so far this year, had a clean sweep through district play, beat a pretty solid Bellevue team as well as three other NKY teams in Holy Cross, Ludlow and Brossart. To be playing in the regional final is a very good accomplishment for any team and I applaud Gallatin for their successful season.

 

This week should be fun for the players, coaches, parents and whole school just as VOR states. Getting to host the regional final should be exciting and I hope an enjoyable experience for the whole community. Good luck to the Wildcats this week!

To some extent NCC and BW? BW has 11 state titles. NCC has been in the title 8 out of the last 12 years I believe. In 05 beat Mayfield 42-7 I might add. Tell how you put them on the fringe when it comes to those others?

Well, because NCC's perennial state title run is relatively still new and Beechwood's recent state title hopes seem to be a little out of reach. During the 90's Beechwood would have been at the top of this list.

BW had 7 titles in the 90's to Mayfield's 1. Since 2000 each have had 3 state titles. NCC's goals are simply to win a state title. Not a BW fan at all but that's a ridiculous effort on your part to somehow seperate yourself from BW because Mayfield has had success the past few years against them. Silly argument. But way to put Mayfield in with Trinity and Highlands.

Based upon that, I would imagine that anything short of a state championship for Trinity, Bowling Green, Highlands and Mayfield would likely equate to a disappointing season. Although I'm sure NCC and Beechwood both have set a goal of another state championship for this season, I wouldn't label the season a disappointment if they lost to Caldwell County and Mayfield in the playoffs.

I can tell you the group led by Rob Kues was pretty disappointed with losing in the state title two years in a row. NCC is now in that similar "state championship or bust" type of expectations for exactly the reason you said; their crazy success since 2000, especially from 2005 on.
