November 12, 201312 yr It didn’t really happen if you didn't Facebook or Instagram it. At least, that's what it often feels like. Our lives are becoming less and less separate from the interactions we have on digital platforms. Conversations in person revolve around what so-and-so posted the other day and how many times what’s-his-name was retweeted. Are we trading in a real existence for a digital one? 1. Every Single Emotion You Feel - No one cares to hear the roller coaster of emotion you’ve experienced every day this week. 2. Using Social Media As Your Default Love Letter - OK, we get it. You have a mountain of affection for your significant other, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife. That doesn’t mean you should select every picture of you two hugging/kissing/whatever else as your profile picture. 3. The Same Content Over and Over - We know that blog post you wrote two years ago got hundreds of likes, but that was then and this is now. It’s permissible to post a link to your favorite band’s music video a few times, but then give it a rest. 3 Things to Stop Posting On Social Media | RELEVANT Magazine
November 12, 201312 yr Author Great advice! What can you add? I will go next: 4. Quit posting photos of the first snow or rainbow you just saw? We all know it snowed, we all see it, we don't need to see 100 pictures of it on Facebook. As for the rainbow, see the snow explanation. #5???
November 12, 201312 yr #7- Share this if you love Jesus (or something along those lines) As my friend Michael Rudolph tweeted a few weeks ago: I must have missed the part in the Bible where Jesus said "And unto others you will forward this email to prove that you love me" I love Jesus with all my heart, but there's a 100% chance I'm not sharing it solely because you've made it some sort of faith test.
November 12, 201312 yr It seems like quite a few on BGP have a great amount of disdain for social media sites, which begs the question, if you have such a problem with them, why are you on them? :idunno:
November 12, 201312 yr It seems like quite a few on BGP have a great amount of disdain for social media sites, which begs the question, if you have such a problem with them, why are you on them? :idunno: It's a good question. Of the social media sites, I stay almost exclusively on Twitter these days. I can't really think of anything about Twitter that is annoying or bothersome. Facebook, on the other hand... Facebook has one & only one appeal for me: it's the easiest way for me to keep in touch with some people in my life. I've probably got around 600 "friends" on Facebook but have blocked about 500 of them.

Love it, have a few people that I followed or that followed me that were super annoying, so you simply stop following or block those people. Can't stand Facebook or Instagram, so I never created an Instagram account and deleted my Facebook account in June of last year. Haven't once felt the need or desire to restart it.

Think of it this way, if every time a team won a game their fans posted 10 separate threads about it and in each thread the member posted a picture of their star QB we would all melt down. All we are really doing in this thread is having fun pointing out others narcissism and ignorance.

As to your first point, I couldn't care any less if people are talking smack about BGP users (including myself) on places such as Facebook and/or other social media sites. As to your second point, it would get quite annoying, I'm not disagreeing, but as with anything, you (collective you) have a choice what you view or don't view, or whether it's annoying to the point of not being a member anymore. And I'm not talking specifically about this thread, it just seems like we end up having quite a few threads along these same lines every few months. No one is forced to have a Facebook account as far as I'm aware.
November 12, 201312 yr You mean like (pun intended) this? It just came up on my FB Feed: Yep And while I won't apologize for being a Christian, I'm still not sharing that.
