Wireman Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Breaking news: you're no longer allowed to pump fake in professional basketball... This has to be the most ridiculous technical foul I can ever remember: :arghh::arghh::arghh::banghead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAy_npo0BnE
jpa2825 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 When did he "pump fake?" He clearly clowned the guy by putting the ball in his face. Not sure it warrants a T, but it certainly wasn't a pump fake. Also, even it it doesn't warrant a T, his coach should have impressed on him why it was unnecessary. (Of course, the NBA doesn't have coaches -- just glorified babysitters.)
HammerTime Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I think there was a bit of jawing and other stuff going on before this. He's clearly trying to taunt him. I don't think he should have gotten T'd up but he wasn't trying to "ball fake" him.
DragonFire Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I don't think it warrants a tech, but a pump fake it wasn't.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I don't think it warrants a tech, but a pump fake it wasn't. Agree and agree. Wireman, how do you see that as a pump fake? He clearly was clowning the guy. Like DragonFire, a technical is over-the-top however.
Wireman Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Clowning or not it's still a pump fake when a player fakes a pass or shot and pulls it back in. Michael Jordan did that same thing roughly 2,375 times in his career.

Key evidence. He punched Reggie Miller once and Reggie was thrown out of the game.
PurplePride92 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Extremely biased announcing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPRbt1rrSFc

Michael Jordan did that same thing roughly 2,375 times in his career. Jordan did it as part of a repertoire of moves. Lance did it, as others have put it, "clowning" the other guy, he wasn't faking anything or trying to get open. And obviously its a part of the officials calling the game now, cause even the commentators called it almost before the refs did. I got no problem with it as long as it's called consistently.
