I have to agree with Ram, just because you play a tough schedule doesnt always mean you the best team.

 

You're right! But to be competitive in an extremely tough schedule (not just a tough schedule) is much more impressive than being undefeated against a cupcake schedule.

 

It's not like they played a tough in-state schedule. They played a tough NATIONAL schedule.

I think if the schedule was reversed, the results would be the same for both teams. That is why we have this discussions. But, again if the schedule and results were exactly reversed, people would be saying how powerful Trinity was and how bad Simon Kenton was.

 

I think Trinity won the games they should have, but lost the games versus the great competition. I think they would have gotten the benefit of the doubt if they would have won a game or two that people didn't expect them to.

 

I am far from a Trinity hater, in fact, I venture a guess that I am the only person in NEKY that has a Trinity sweatshirt. I just wish they would have gotten that signature win.

That's part of my point, is Male, Manual, St. Xavier or Trinity better then Scotty County or Simon Kenton? How do we know which one is? Should we rank all four above Scott County and Simon Kenton just because one of them MAY be better? Those four teams in the "supper district" are good and have done some great things, but we have to rank teams, not districts, and Scott County and Simon Kenton have done all that has been asked of them thus far.

 

Boyle and JC are undefeated. Why are they not ahead of HHS in 4A? HHS didn't do their job! HHS should have taken care of business against Elder and almost lost to a 5-5 WC team. Who is HHS' signature win?

And we can say no one is arguing for Trinity and St. Xavier, but no one mentioned Manual or Male for most of this argument and Male is the only school that an argument can be made for, and I'm not sure that argument if valid, but I can see it as a valid argument.

Many will never give respect to teams that steer clear of competition. They are a 6A school that plays a 3A caliber schedule. This is not the kid's fault. I get that. They only play who is lined up over top of them. In fact, I feel bad for the kids because down the road once this is all over and they go undefeated until they see a good team, they will question why the heck they weren't prepared for that last game. What went wrong? What did we do differently? They did nothing wrong and nothing different. They were just never tested by their schedule and they weren't prepared for what they were going to experience...thats a shame. Because they do have a decent team, but will never get over the hump playing the type of schedule they play. We all know that.

 

I know it all plays out in the end and we'll all know SK's schedule led them to fool's gold, but it just kills me to see mediocracy rewarded, even if it's in a senseless poll.

 

For the record, Manual and Male are 3-4 TD's better too. We all just use the T and X scenarios because it's the names we're all used to.

There is two reason why I haven't argued for Male or Manual. First is, I'm not sold on neither team because they haven't been consistent with good teams year in & year out. Also I'm not so sure that Male & Manual would play Trinity & St X if they weren't in the same district.

Seeing that this is a discussion board, and that these rankings and playoff discussions provoking discussion, it's not a waste of time. By that measure, Bluegrass preps is a waste of time.

 

Folks will still complain regardless of outcome, because there were will be at least 3 casualties of the super district, beating itself. And unfortunately, folks will still devalue a different champion (if that were to happen) because of that fact.

I've been saying that all year. Way back when T fans were upset at me when I said BG was the #1 team in the state and T fans kept bringing up their SOS and I kept pointing out that a tough strength of schedule is good but you have to be able to beat those teams. Having a tough SOS but losing means nothing.

Manual has a tough offensive line and a running back the size of Maurice jones drew and male has beat two of the three..... NKY 6A teams don't play teams like this and just aren't prepared.

I don't think that would surprise anyone, I would even say the odds of them winning has them more strongly favored. If most are considering the top contenders to play in 6A to be coming from Louisville then they've got a 4 in 7 chance of a team from Louisville winning state again in 6A. With the other 3 candidates being Scott Co, McCracken and SK.
