This Fairview thing might have went all the way back to my playing days when they knocked us out in the playoffs my senior year

 

However for people to also act like the players should be punished too is showing soup grapes. Those players probably did know they had someone who shouldn't be playing. However what do you expect high school kids to do? What high school kid in America is going to say no coach we can't let him play. What high school kid is going to go to the principal or superintendent and say sorry sir but what you all are allowing is wrong. We the adults are the ones suppose to be setting the example for the players. Players look at coaches as their leaders it's a brotherhood with their teammates.So what exactly should the players have done? No player in America would have done anything different even if they did know.

 

So yes it's a problem when adults can't that it's not fair for the current players for their leaders cheating. Yes I know that's basically the best punishment for what the school did and needed to be done. However no reason for comments like that when someone says it's not fair for the players either. Those players were put in a bad position.

Simply put, you haven't lived what players from other schools had to live due to the activities of Fairview. In this situation 61 players at Fairview get punished. For the last several years, 300 players from other schools have missed opportunities, missed playoff games, not had the opportunities to win district championships, win regional championships, advance to the finals. Plus, players from other schools have had to endure insults, text messages, tweets, and other communications from the Fairview PLAYERS. Plus, Raceland players have had to endure the Fairview PLAYERS displaying pictures of one of our player's father who passed away, and one of our players who passed away with horrible things written on them. This was done by the players, following their coaches and other leaders.

 

What could the players had done if they were truly innocent? They could have reported it. Far fetched? Maybe, but they have not learned a very valuable life lesson, if you are present with someone breaking the law and do nothing, you are just as guilty as the person who broke the law.

 

So, forgive me if I have no sympathy for the adults or the players at Fairview.

I will say this again, you basically will find no kid in America who is between 14 and 18. Who are going to go to their head coach, the school principal, or the superintendent and say sir sorry but what we are doing is wrong and we need to do it the right way. Adults set the example for these young men, it was those adults decisions to let these things happen that put those players in that position. So yes in terms of that its not right to act like they should be punished too for not doing anything about it because no kid in America would have done any different in reporting it.

 

As for the other stuff though especially about the players father, that definitely was not right. So I definitely see now where you are coming from.:thumb:

The ones that really lost in this are the opposing teams that lost to them. The senior who didn't get to play 'just one more game". The parents who saw their son lose a game they should have won. The team that didn't get a District title. The school that didn't get to back their team on a playoff run. The community that didn't get to follow their team during a great season. That's the ones who lost and can never be made whole no matter what the KHSAA does.

Well in all honesty, anyone who truly believes that the people in charge REALLY didn't know this kid wasn't eligible are walking around blind without a cane. They (people in charge) are now just using spin control to save some face.

Absolutely ! Plus, the fact that they are still "spinning" things to make them look better to me makes them look worse. Dang, their coaches, administration and School board president and members should be working for Obama, they have all the honesty that he does. :sssh:

You're right about this and maybe the coaches, administration are the reason that those kids wouldn't do that, as you said - kids do what they are taught and what they see. Those coaches, superintendent, principal and school board president shouldn't be in any position of being over-teaching, coaching, making decisions with or around h.s. kids.

I do absolutely know there were parents in the Fairview district that were fed up and sickened by what was going on out there for years. They had sons that lost playing time due to all the out/state kids being brought in. They (parents) had their kids in that school system for all of their school years, have worked, supported various programs in the school for the children from elementary thu high school only to be "kicked in the gut" by adults with their own pride and advancement in mind, no one else's.

I know that some certainly wouldn't have voted for the new school tax that recently was put in place and do not be surprised that if possible (is probably not) to repeal that tax and put the money back in their pocket instead of promoting what FHS was doing. That is being checked into.

Great post Ram and I know for a fact about the "taunting" that you were describing. Most don't know that Adults were as involved with a lot of that s much and some cases more than the kids were, I would bet that "some" of the comments were the result of adults putting the kids up to it. Just how Sick is That ??

 

Actually, the ones at Fairview that are whining, crying and playing the victim do not realize how lucky they were. I absolutely know that it was being seriously considered by the officials to Shut Fairview Football Program down completely for two years. Was reconsidered bc of the kids and their not having the chance to participate in the sport they loved and certainly not bc of any Fairview coaches, administration move.

(So, at least for this season the Fairview football team. coaches, administrators, teachers and fans can go to the playoffs......If they buy a ticket to the games. Yes, that was me being sarcastic, lol)

Ashland turns Fairview in at least twice for everything that was going on and turned Rose Hill in for what they were doing in Basketball and yet both times they benefit from the fallout with incoming players from the clandestine teams? I guess integrity is hard to come by when the athletes come calling.....
