Matney antics or not, the team from Johnsonville is for real.

I agree! Which district gets to host the Regional Championship?

Matney has done some questionable things but his plays show great sportsmanship and respect for their opponent.

If the two 1 seeds JC and Highlands were to meet it would be at Highlands.

I thought we traveled?

CCH cannot be looking forward to this trip in week 2.

Odd year odd district hosts, your district 7 so it's at your place

I still don't think people realize how good this JC team is.

As a Belfry fan I have this sneaking suspicion Belfry becomes the statement win that announces JC as Highlands' most dangerous threat after Friday. Just have this gut feeling JC is an absolute steamroller right now.

I don't think most have grasped how much better of a team it makes someone like JC when they have such sound Special Teams play that they have not enjoyed in past years.

I agree to a point. I also think the special teams play of JC is often overlooked, even with the attention it has received this year. Starting teams at their 20 isn't something JC is accustom to. Years past teams would start at midfield. Take into consideration that anything inside their 35 yd line is game for 3 points is also a threat.

I think the Eagles would have to but a beat down on belfry to get serious consideration, but I can't see that happening. Haywood will have his team ready for an all out battle. The locals have been talking about this game for months now and now it's just a week away. I wouldn't be surprised to see either team win this game, that's just how this series has been as of late. The competition will serve both teams huge dividends going into the playoff stretch.

Does JC still run it 99 percent of the time or are they mixing in the pass a little bit more?

Still heavy run but more passing than years past. Probably about 85/15. More play action than in years past and the passing game is more diverse as well

This has been JC' downfall in the playoffs. If they can't balance the offense they'll have a tough time getting to the semi final or championship games.

Here's the thing though...it has been JC's downfall against Highlands moreso than it has been their downfall in the playoffs.

JC simply is failing to defeat the Bluebirds... but so is everyone else in 4A and it can be argued that JC and their 90% run every down offense has played the Birds consistently better than other household name programs such as Boyle, LexCath, and CovCath over the past 5 or 6 years.... and definitely more than the teams Highlands typically sees in the Finals.

If I am a JC fan looking at how Highlands has defeated me over the years it isn't so much my offense that scares me... it's the fact Highlands consistently hangs 40+ points on my defense and consistently has the advantage in the details that you don't see in the box score such as Special Teams, Depth, and Team Speed. Having the ability to catch up from behind by passing certainly is nice...but it is nicer if you had the defense that allowed you to play with the lead when you score 3 TD's.

I love the belly series that JC runs. They do it well.

As a fan, I have a hard time finding the ball. Frustrating to think you have tackled the first back for a 2 yard loss only to discover that the second or third option just picked up 8 yards.
