Open Jobs?

In the big picture, the grand scheme of the things it's a hobby. Don't get me wrong, I know exactly the type of time they put in but a hobby is an auxiliary activity. For 99.9% of coaches they have a real job and coach for the love of the game. Just like you love your puzzles. The 99.9 % of coaches would make 10x -20x that working at Walmart for the hours they put in. I can sell a paint by numbers art piece for more than they make and that's a hobby. Stop with the sensitivity, I feel like you need a hug.

People get fired and also lose their teaching jobs because of people like you and weak minded administrators.

No sensitivity here doctor Phil...hug a tree, I'm good. You are right, they do it for the LOVE of the game, and the kids...hobbies and paying jobs aren't the same. Some teaching jobs are tied to coaching, not saying it's right, but usually they get hired because they coach football....not the other way around (oh you are an outstanding chemistry teacher, wanna be our head football coach-they hire a football coach and then assign a teaching position). Just reality, which brings me back to my point...why not keep this about OPEN jobs, as the thread alludes to. Have fun hugging it out.

Tenured teachers have to do something really bad to get fired and one of them is not losing football games.

The sensitivity on here is hilarious. This forum is a huge barber shop.....that's its purpose.....entertainment. And you said it yourself in your post, its a high school football coaching job. A hobby. That's the lets not keep score mentality that is making everyone a bunch cry babies. Its a forum for high school football topics. If a football coach reads these gets upset, I bet he's not a very good coach so he needs another hobby.

100% totally disagree. At the very least, coaching in many high school sports is a 2nd job when considering the time, effort and dedication involved. Very often it's even more than that and may be more time consuming and require more effort than the individuals primary "paycheck" job. Personally, I believe calling it a "hobby" is an insult to thousands of coaches across the country. But that's just my take.

Their is 0 disrespect in calling it a hobby. They help shape young mens lives, are positive role models, and most have the trust of the families involved. Its something the coaches decide to do for the love of it, not money, in some cases no money. I dont believe i insult anyone when i call it a hobby, by definition it is. Great respect for them. My original point is the sensitivity thing. You want to tiptoe around an issue because its that big a deal? C'mon man! Lol. If its that important it should be open for public scrutiny.

I understand where you are coming from, just don't see it as a hobby...In my simple opinion a hobby is something anyone can do regardless of how good they are at it and yet they don't get public backlash and fired-or hired for that matter (fishing, model making, golf...etc), coaching is not something anyone can do. Committees are put together, interviews are undergone, and it's taken very seriously by those involved in choosing a coach. If coaches should be up for public scrutiny then I guess every profession should. Guess we can all go yell at the cashier at the grocery store if we don't like what she does and see if we can get her fired. Coaching is referred to as a profession...just think it should be respected as one...Im certain its not a hobby for the guys who get fired and then lose their teaching jobs on top of it. With that said, I was just messing with ya on the sensitivity stuff...it's all good.

LCC not pleased at all with coach or the season.....

Thats 2 hall of fame coaches in a row they aren't happy with. I wonder if maybe, just maybe, its not the coaches fault.

No way Dudley goes to Whitley, I could see him returning to high school but not at Whitley.
