You must be reading between my lines seeing what you pushes your narrative I said I had the debit cards I don't know if the people in line with Food stamps cards had credit cards . I generally pay with debit credit cards .Don't carry much cash . Everyone that wanted to pay electronically left their carts if they didn't have the cash .

My comparison was more along the lines of we've got bigger inequalities in corporate America than spending time worrying about what happened at a few Wal-Mart stores in Louisiana.

Are you for real or just fishing for a response? It was theft. It's nothing else. Theft. I'm not defending Walmart. It's akin to a bank error in your favor for a cool grand and you decide you need some new Ping golf clubs with the new found surplus. It's freakin theft. Black and white. Sure I think some of the huge issues like Exxon et al. are awful and appalling but let's be real. So are abortion, and political greed from drug company lobby and deforestation and all of the other problems in this world.

Yep, has nothing to do with simply doing the right thing. Morality doesn't matter does it?:idunno:

First, it should make most of you happy to know that federal funding for SNAP is being cut effective Nov. 1.

 

Second, Wal-Mart really should have disallowed the purchases because the system was down. It happened in 17 states, and those purchases were denied by the retailers.

 

Third, what may appear to be an EBT card may also have other funds loaded on it, such as child support payments.

 

Fourth, I'm not sure how you can tell who should or shouldn't be receiving aid, simply by sight.

 

Fifth, if a person has a credit card, that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't needy. And if they are responsibly handling the credit, isn't it better in the long run that they maintain a decent credit score? And isn't it possibly an indication they are getting to the point where they no longer need aid/

 

Sixth, SNAP benefits can be minimal. When I was first divorced and had no job, I received $75/month because there was a child support order. I made 5.00/hr. When I got a raise to $5.25, it was cut to $25/month.

 

I see a lot of generalizations thrown around, and judgements made without any actual knowledge of a stranger's circumstances.

 

I'll be making heftier food donations going forward. The food banks will not be able to fill the gap. My mother gets no SNAP benefits, but she is absolutely dependent on her Feeding America box each month. I take as much as I can to her, and would do more, but with expenses like a new roof, and installing a walk-in shower so she doesn't hurt herself getting in and out of the tub because of her crippling arthritis, I'm cash-strapped myself.
