Recommended Posts

RockMom -- Cruz would be for things that make your stomach churn. You are a liberal . He is a true old school Reagan conservative . MSNBC will attempt to crucify him should he attempt a presidential run.
No He is a conservative in the vein of Barry Goldwater ,Joe McCarthy, Robert Taft , and Strom Thurmond etal .

So....what would he propose that makes my stomach churn? I haven't ever experienced that, so it must be something new and revolutionary.

Specifics please.

On all he would prefer the marketplace to help. For Social Security he would support raising the retirement age, as we are living longer. He would also like to see privatizing individual accounts for those who would like to opt out of SS. Medicare he would also raise the age of eligibility.

bballfamily - citizen of United States

Barack Obama - president of United States

ipso facto - President Obama is your president

Perhaps bballfamily is living on another planet, like the thread title implies about the Congressman.:lol2:

Candidate (let's not kid ourselves here) Cruz is a smart guy, but when you've got the Krauthammers of the world hammering on you, it may not be the best omen for your Presidential aspirations as a member of the GOP. Time will tell.

What can he do to influence the marketplace? It seems to me the marketplace was failing to help long before President Obama was elected the first time, with what were (according to many here on BGP) more favorable terms for businesses.

He would allow the marketplace to find the level of cost and benefit. Prices were going up, but some was due to the marketplace and some due to government interference. Much of today's problems in health care are now caused by the government.

The marketplace is rigged.

As far as Obama being President' date=' I do not claim him as my President anymore than I would claim any other wannabe totalitarian.[/quote']

Former President GW Bush was my President. I never voted for him, and disagreed with pretty much everything he did. But he was still my President. I live in a country where sometimes it's not "my guy" in office, but they are still representing me. Even Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, both of whom I heartily dislike, are my Congressmen.

So....it wasn't working before....and nothing was being done at all to change it....and you want to go back to that?

When choosing between candidates I compare them to my political beliefs. Whether choosing a candidate or a product I believe one would make side by side comparisons. Although I can see your point, that in the end a candidate has to sell his points of view.

But you make it sound like Cruz is running against Obama. Far as I can tell, Obama can't get a redshirt third term.
