MHSCardinal
Barker and Sindelar are both very good. Barker has to do more for his team, mainly because he plays against better competition but also lacks the supporting casts that ES has, especially on the 2A level vs the 5A level. I think DB is the stronger of the 2, but, he's also a year further along. I also think DB is the better runner of the 2, although ES can also tuck it and run when neccessary. Both have very good accurracy, touch and solid mechanics. I think DB has a few more intangibles in how he commands the huddle, leadership skills and being fearless. Both play with poise. I love ES's mechanics & touch a bit more, but, both are solid there. I think both will be very good college QBs and both have a chance to play at the highest level in a few years. If they both end up at UK, I'd look for ES to redshirt his freshman year and DB to play his freshman year, therefore DB would be a true Jr by the time ES becomes a RS Freshman. If DB is as good as advertised, it's very possible he goes pro after his Jr year and ES take over by the time he's a RS Sophomore. The trumpcard in all of this is Stidham. He could come to UK and throw a real curve in the equation, as he may well be better than both..
JokersWild24
I'll say this: I haven't seen enough to crown him the "best", but Reggie Bonnafon is a bit underrated, IMO. Maybe it's the fact he's going to Louisville, maybe it's the fact that he's just played there as the starter this year, and/or maybe it's the fact that he plays for Trinity. Whatever it is, I think he's a tad underrated, which is odd.

Not much because people think anybody can QB the best teams with little talent or effort. Its simply not true imo, I have seen both play this yr and they are two of the best in the State.:thumb:

Very few are aware of this kid. Has some KY blood in him if I recall. Getting a lot of interest from within the state of Texas. I think this is his first year playing QB. Was a WR prior. If there are 3 things that make a QB underrated it's always: Signed with a D1 school From a big city like Louisville Plays at a school like Trinity

theguru
We have a lot of talented QBs in KY. All things being equal I would take Barker over any of them but admit handicapping QBs is as much art as it is science at the high school level. Voice of Reason
I will qualify this as I have only seen a little film on some of the QB's in the discussion, but right now as a high school QB I choose Barker. He has the arm, he is very good at reading defenses and the thing that sets him apart as a high school QB is his running. Ironically, I see his running being a non factor in college, but in high school he is big, strong and tough to tackle and he has enough speed to go for big gains once he breaks a tackle or two. All things being equal I would take Barker over any of them but admit handicapping QBs is as much art as it is science at the high school level. Very true. The science part is the easier of the two as there are measurables. The difficulty lies in baseline and control, and the lack thereof. Thus it's never apples to apples. The art part of quarterbacking is as with art itself. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have seen pieces of art sell at auction for tens of thousands that I would not put in my home. I have seen qb's with with off the chart measurables that I would not have on my team. Conversely there are many examples of pieces of art cast aside in yard sales that prove later to be priceless. Just as there are examples of 5th string quarterbacks going on to be named Mr. football. This thread and the others like it affirm that in our state we continue to put out top QB talent. If we could put out talent at comparable levels at other position KY football will have arrived.
PurplePride92
Bowling Green's Devin Hayes is 255-401 for 4,250 yards and 66 touchdowns in 21 games.
