KUNTZ, HOULISTON HAVE SHOT AT RECORD: Highlands senior quarterback Drew Houliston and Simon Kenton senior quarterback Brenan Kuntz both have a chance at setting the single-season state record for completion percentage.

 

According to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association state record book Leslie County’s Tim Couch, who went on to play for the University of Kentucky and was the No. 1 pick in the 1999 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, completed 75.1 percent of his passes in 1994.

 

Houliston has completed 71.4 percent of his passes (119 of 167) for 2,103 yards, 28 touchdowns and one interception this season.

 

Kuntz has completed 72.4 percent of his passes (105 of 145) after going 20 of 27 in Friday’s 55-35 win over Campbell County. He passed for 367 yards and seven touchdowns in the game, which is tied for the 17th-most in a game in state history (J.J. Hesch of Newport is tied for the most when he threw nine in a 2005 game against Spencer County). For the season, Kuntz has passed for 1,539 yards, 19 touchdowns and one interception.

Stats wouldn't do it for me, especially with Kuntz. Saw with my own two eyes stat padding in the CC game. An extra 75-100 yards passing and 2 TDs with just over 7 minutes left in a blow out. Do they do that every game?

Honestly, I would love it. You are delirious about them winning, but I would love to see for SK's sake. The 6A schools need to be playing the best competition if they EVER think they will have a chance to do anything in a state game. All the 6a schools should be playing HHS and Cov cath and some Cincy schools every year. There should NEVER be any 3a and below teams on any 6a school's schedule if the team have any desire of ever being competitve.

Houliston and Kuntz are on undefeated teams. SK is 6A so he gets the edge.

Best QB in Northern KY? Could be wearing number 7 and only 1 of 10 in the wide receiver rotation! Got a nice peak in a cameo appearance against an under talented opponent; 9 of 10 for 190 yards and 5 TD's! WOW!

On a 6a team that appears to let him pad his stats at the end of blowout games against a kid the is usually not even in the game in the second half.

 

And that 4a teams schedule is much tougher than that mighty 6a squad.
