Has Joey Votto proven he is worthy of his big contract?

Featured Replies

I know that Votto is in the early part of his contract, but I think he needs to show a lot more considering the paycheck he's getting. He needs to hit the ball a lot more than what he did over the season for that kind of pay; jmo. All the walks do not mean much of anything, unless you have wheels like Billy Hamilton.

Anyone short of Jesus will have a hard time living up to a $250 mil. deal.

No one is worth that much, so clearly no.

While I clearly agree; I'm thinking even if the contract wasn't substantially bigger. The money that they have tied up in him worries me about other talent on the team along with future talent.

It's a lot of money to tie up in one player.

And when opposing pitchers aren't afraid of anyone else in the lineup, Votto amounts to a big sack of money for them to pitch around.

Last year he was a beast and definitely living up to what was expected before he got hurt. This season he didn't produce like he should

And I heard even JC had a hard time making the play in the hole at shortstop and some Cerrano guy said he couldn't hit a curveball.

He needs to spend some of that $25M and get his head examined.

Ok, Harris, no need to be startin' a Holy War.

Are you trying to tell me that Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? :irked:

He's a great hitter, one of the best in league. Had a down year that's all.

He's a 9-1 hitter. When the Reds are up 9-1 he kills the ball. Bring him up with RISP down 3-2 in any inning and he's a can of corn or a strikeout. He made me so mad so many times this season.
