October 1, 201312 yr How has he stunk in the playoffs? He didn't get no-hit to start the series. He didn't injure his #1 in the first inning of the series opener. There haven't been many tough decisions considering there is very little depth on the bench and you haven't had every starter healthy yet. He's pretty cruddy An unbiased look at Dusty Baker's postseason managerial record | Yardbarker.com
October 1, 201312 yr Bob is a no nonsense owner and wants to win more than anything. I don't see Dusty going anywhere with the amount of money the Reds would have to eat but I would be equally shocked if BP was still here when the winter meettings are over. He crossed the line when he was bashing the ownership and his contract. This very well could be Brandon's last game as a Red. I wouldnt mind seeing BP go at all. We will hurt on defense, but not seeing his terrible AB's and his showboating anymore wont bother me at all. And yes, i know he has 100 RBI this season, but when you have 2 guys hitting in front of you that got on base over 600 times this year, i dont see it in the same light as some may see it.
October 1, 201312 yr BP is really a tough call. He is great and irritating at the same time. Defensively, one of the best ever. Offensively, versatile and clutch. But his attitude and non chalant manner on the field bugs me. Since he is one of your veterans and a leader, to have him play the game the way he does is bad for the team IMO. I don't want my young guys thinking they can do that. BP can do it and usually get away with it because he is that good. 99% of the players can't. As much as I have enjoyed him, if they get quality back I am ok with him going.
October 1, 201312 yr Lets go get Carpenter from the Cards.. I dont think the Cards will want him back after this year.. :lol2:
October 1, 201312 yr Author Isnt Baker signed through 2014? Im not a Dusty Baker fan by any means, but i think it may be hard firing a guy who has taken the team to the playoffs 3 of the 6 years hes been here. Considering where the Reds were in 08' when Dusty came here, thats going to be hard to get rid of. Yes, he has a year left and they would have to pay him about $3 million to leave. To be clear, again, I am NOT a fan of letting him go.
October 1, 201312 yr Lets go get Carpenter from the Cards.. I dont think the Cards will want him back after this year.. :lol2: Be careful about jokes like that. I know you are kidding and that is a good one, but there are far too many people who think it is just that easy. There is nothing crazier than listening to the lopsided trade ideas people think really could happen.

If there is anyone in here that believes that, that is a possibility, then they do not belong inside of a MLB forum, because they dont know what a baseball is.

October 1, 201312 yr I'm putting the chances at Make no mistake Dusty owns the lineup card but Bob runs the team. JMO but I've worked for a compnay Mr. Castillini (spelling) owned and he is all about respect and keeping things in order. My experience is he is a class act.

I don't disagree with any of that....I also think if Dusty is back he'll get to keep BP.
October 1, 201312 yr I don't disagree with any of that....I also think if Dusty is back he'll get to keep BP. You may be right. I just hope this doesn't turn into another Ocho Sinco bit. I love what BP can do on the field but some of his antics are starting to get a little old.

I loathe BP, and as Clyde will tell you, that has been the case from jump street. He is 100% a phony baloney and I'm not a fan. I've been telling LRCW the same thing for years and years. What you saw with C. Trent is normal operating procedure for BP.
October 1, 201312 yr I hope this is Dusty's last year, but I know he'll be back unfortunatly. Castallini likes Dusty, the GM wanted someone else a year or two ago....at least that is what I've heard through the grapevine.

I thought the C Trent thing was terrible (and a true indicator) but I'm about performance first. No way you EVER get ANYONE to come in and replace him defensively and not MANY are going to come close to his offense. The team will be worse if he is gone UNLESS you take that money and put into a stud 3B or LF - and your D will STILL be worse overall.
