October 2, 201312 yr Yep. Let's ignore the fact the Reds choked last night, and give credit to the fans in the stadium. That was for sure a playoff atmosphere, which it will be tonight in Cleveland, and every night in every stadium throughout the playoffs. You don't get that night in and night out during the regular season. Of course someone with a vast knowledge of the game knows that. Right? Hopefully they sign Luddy to a 5 year 100 mil deal based of last night, he really deserves it... Really.. i can put words in your mouth just as easy as you do mine. Is that your only reliable argument? Just the same as you did to Ludwick, you put words in the guys mouth to make them sound like an idiot. Get a clue.
October 2, 201312 yr Clue... Reds choked. Flat out didn't get it done. 2nd year in a row. Ludwick is not the answer in left or as a two hitter. Yes he got a couple of hit last night, hats off to him, but he will be 36 years old, is a lifetime .260 hitter that is declining from that. As was said earlier the window starting to close, even though I'm not really sure how open it really was. I watched that entire game last night, hoping somehow they would get it going. Disappointing doesn't even explain it. I was at the 99 play in game, where the crowd was electric until the Reds fell flat on their faces. I do get the electric atmosphere thing, I'm sure players do feed off of it. But I've seen crowds taken out games early, the Reds failed to do that last night.

Inherited runners who ultimately score tell the story. Obviously, what a reliever inherits is not charged to his ERA. I don’t know Simon’s specific statistics in this area, but I watch most the games and have a good feel that he has not faired well when he enters a game with runners on base.
October 2, 201312 yr Anyone else on this board interested in trading Joey Votto? I am a big admirer of his talent in the batter’s box. One of the prettiest swings, since, maybe, Ted Williams? For some reason, I have never really liked him. I can’t totally put my finger on it, but I find him irritating for some reason. I have taken a lot of heat from being a huge Reds fan for over 40 years, yet not being a face of the franchise (Joey Votto) fan. Oh well.....anybody else feel this way?
October 2, 201312 yr Well at least the Reds didn't drag it out to a 7 game series this year, to let us all down. Such a small window for these players to ever win a title unless they join a team later in their career, no leadership on this team. Back to fantasy football for us and back to their beach houses for the Reds.

League average around 27%. Seems like he had a pretty solid year.

October 2, 201312 yr Who would trade for Votto? That isn't even mentioning that he has a no trade clause. BP and Votto have terrible deals and that is all Walt's fault. I don't mind the lets go after it with these guys window but that is exactly what they have. A couple more chances with BP before his decline really hurts them and hope like crazy that Votto goes back to his 2010 form or his contract is even worse. I guess theoretically if you expect contracts to continually rise there is a slight chance Votto's deal for years 5-7 won't be terrible but unless he finds some good HGH years 8-10 are a disaster waiting to happen.

October 2, 201312 yr The Reds losing was awful. What's even worse was my 9 yr old daughter asking me why all the runners just jog to the bases every time. The Reds played with no heart and no sense of urgency. Looks to me like they need to become more mentally tough which is done through off season program. Cueto dropped the ball out of his glove he was so shook. When you can't score runs you have to generate them. This is a huge reason I've never liked Baker. Hamilton puts the most pressure on the base paths since Vince Coleman yet he never sniffs the field. Reds need to ditch Baker and add a righty to batting lineup.
