The Purples play Tennessee state power McCallie this week and every fan of KY high school football should be rooting for BG this week. Not only are the Purples playing an out of state opponent, BG is the Crown Jewel from KY this year and we should all be on the bandwagon drinking the Purple Kool Aid.

All kidding aside, BG is someone to showcase because of what they have done the last couple of years (in addition to this year) and because of their national ranking.

Nope. I'm not rooting against them either, I am 100% in the "I could not care less" column. My life doesn't change one iota, nor does my heart rate go up 1 BPM based on the outcome of that game.

 

As I said in the Trinity / Colerain thread last week, this blanket of all for one and one for all when a KY HS plays an out of state school just baffles me. You think someone in Tennessee thinks more of Bellevue or Ludlow if they get housed by the Purples? No; they think more of the Purples. And anyone the Purples have run over in their run of dominance. Even with that being said, what is that worth?

 

Why am I supposed to care what Bowling Green's mythical national ranking is? They are playing for a 5A state title, nothing more and nothing less, and, as we all know, they will win that. Again.

 

I love being from the Commonwealth of KY, am very proud to be a Kentuckian, but I'm not even a smidge concerned about the perception of our state football programs in other states...except Ohio where I happen to work. Even that, however, comes up about 1x a month.

Funny, I had the same exact thing posted but I decided not to hit "submit reply," until I did more research. If you look at T's won-loss record it is very easy to think they are not a state power, but we all know better.

Sorry, didn't know I had to be in agreement with a thread to chime in. Glad to know your stance on posting, I'll keep that under advisement when deciding when and where to post in the future.

 

As to why I did [comment]? Because I disagree with the thread title, and, frankly, because I think most will agree that this board is better when there are points and counter-points; if every thread was 138 posts agreeing with each other, how much fun do you think that would be? Guru made a statement in the title, I happen to disagree with it, so I stopped in for a second to say why.

In the last week(since their loss) they have dropped 5 spots to # 20 in the state and dropped 143 spots to 642 nationally. I agree, long term records aren't impressive. :thumb:
