Series History: First Meeting

Bowling Green travels waaaaaaay down to Chatanooga to take on private McCallie School. It's a testament to how far the Purples have to go to find a game these days. McCallie should provide one of the better challenges that is left on Bowling Green's schedule. Calpreps.com rates McCallie as the #15 team in Tennessee. They are 3-1 with their lone loss coming at the hands of Siegel out of Murfreesboro. The Purples are coming off a 41-7 win over rival Owensboro. They have yet to score less than 39 points in a game this year, while the defense turned in statistically their best performance in holding the Devils to only 7 points, their first game allowing under 21 points. This is the last non-district game for the Purples before the last game of the season.

I voted BG. However, I know not a thing about this team. I really wish PH and I could go, however, too much is going on this week to take such a looooong trip.

Bowling Green 21-14.

This is impressive. Wow!

This School has everything including extremely high tuition. Wonder how it rolls over onto the football field?

2009 4-7

2008 6-5

Bowling Green 35-14. McCallie has BG this wee, Ensworth next week and Brentwood Academy two weeks after Ensworth. I don't know if that is sane or not but you can't accuse them of ducking anyone.

Have a friend from school who actually attended there. Very well-to-do school. He said most of the athletes there are brought in.

Holy moly Batman.....

That's a lot of Crispy Creme fundraising! With the high tuition, someone has to pay for that Campus....

I'm still using the virtual tour....That is very impressive!

With that, Bowling Green by at least 4 TD's. If it isn't, then someone fed the Purples Turkey for Pregame with hint of Grey Poupon!

Good program, but since 2006, McAllie has not defeated one of the Big Three (MBA, Ensworth, Brentwood Academy). BG should roll by > 14 points.

Always root for my Ky boyyyyys. But in all seriousness is McCallie really a "TN Power" as Guru suggested?

Iam thinking they are very comparable to a SK :thumb:

McCallie is very, very different from Simon Kenton in a great deal of respects I'd imagine. Maybe more on par with a Trinity, St. Xavier, Lexington Catholic, Lexington Christian Academy type school.

If you're worried about their talent, don't be. They've put 3 players in the NFL.... since 2002. I'd consider that to be a power almost anywhere.

Bowling Green will have a stiff test. Teams who schedule the likes of: Ensworth, Brentwood, and Montgomery Bell generally feel good about their chances going into the average game if I were guessing.

McCallie plays Ensworth the week after BG. We will know for sure after that game. :thumb:

Ensworth and McCallie have played a common opponent, Pope John Paul II.

Ensworth won 56-3

McCallie won 48-7

Not really a huge fan of the common opponent and power of transitive relation when using it to gauge high school sports on anything other than a macro level, but it would appear that nothing to date suggests that they are two teams who are just worlds apart.

Some players to look out for if you're going to be watching the game:

2014 - LB - Kerrington Wilson

2014 - QB - Isaac Kay *transfer from Texas, hurt at the start of the season

2013 - LB - Eric Wolf

2013 - RB/LB - Andrew Busby

2013 - OL/DL - Cam Walker

2013 - WR/DB - Spencer Morgan

2014 - DB/WR - CJ Fritz

2014 - RB/DB - Alex Trotter

2015 - ATH - JaVaughn Craig

2016 - QB - London Elrod

Baylor, McCallie, others chasing Ensworth again | timesfreepress.com

At this point I have no clue how good I should expect McCallie to be. Does anyone know of the radio station I need to find to listen to the game?

Looking at both teams closely Bowling Green should win by 10 to 14 points statisicly. But its hard to say because of being out of state. Ratings are based on schedules and because teams tend to play more teams witth in there state the ratings are a reflection mostly of how powerful teams with in the state are. It does say that BG is one of there toughest games. I say BG by 17.
