September 10, 201313 yr Author I would expect Hamilton to get a start either tonight's game or tomorrow's game to give Choo a rest and a day game after a night game. While I certainly think Hamilton may actually get to bat sometime, it'll quite honestly shock the heck out of me to see him start a game. This is NOT the time to be experimenting. (Yes, I know he may be the CF next year...but, it's still 2013). I agree that Choo may need some rest, but I think Dusty will go with either Robinson or Heisey in CF. Only way Hamilton gets playing time in the field, IMO, is if the Reds are involved in a complete blowout game (either way).
September 11, 201313 yr I just tuned in...P.U. What happened to Cingrani? Did they just rock him off the mound or did something happen to him?

September 11, 201313 yr From the ballpark it looked like Jackson was safe by a mile. Does the tv replay show something that I missed?
September 11, 201313 yr This team can be so frustrating. Losing to the worst teams like this drives me nuts
September 11, 201313 yr Author This team can be so frustrating. Losing to the worst teams like this drives me nuts They are going to deserve to go to Pittsburgh and lose that one game playoff. Won't have anybody to blame but themselves.

September 11, 201313 yr I guess Dusty wasnt kidding when he said "i'd like to get to 20 games over .500 and then coast the rest of the way". :idunno:

September 11, 201313 yr Author I guess Dusty wasnt kidding when he said "i'd like to get to 20 games over .500 and then coast the rest of the way". :idunno: Based upon the way things have gone down the past two games, and IF you think that one game won't hurt you...then today I'd start (by position): Paul LF Hamilton CF Robinson RF Soto 3B Izturis SS Rodriguez 2B Hanahan 1B Miller C 1.) It'd give your starters a day off physically. 2.) It'd give your starters a day to think about what the heck happened after the Dodgers left town. and 3.) Hopefully it'd light a spark seeing the "youngsters" out there (hopefully) busting their butt trying to help this team win.
September 11, 201313 yr Oh, it was a convoluted mess that he was describing. Didn't want to use left-handers or switch hitters that hit better as lefties. Didn't want to use Robinson because he may have to go in defensively if he used Paul to pinch-hit for Heisey later on. Didn't want to use Izturis because of Brandon's leg...the list went on and on. (I'd almost would've rather settled for Leake going up there. At least he's faced more major league pitches this year than Soto has!) Thanks for the info CSF. I kept wondering what Dusty has against Robinson. Now I see he has Robinson pigeon holed in his lineup rotation as late inning defensive replacement guy. But you will never need late inning defensive replacement guy if you can't get a hit and drive in the go ahead run. Robinson gives you solid at bats every time he is at the plate plus he can bunt and be a threat that way against a really tough pitcher like Kershaw. Soto is first right handed pinch hitter guy, apparently regardless of the game situation. Dusty is not good at managing to the game situation. He has great game plans short term and long term but sometimes you have to go off the plan and that is where Dusty struggles IMO.

In fact, I think Robinson could have more of an overall impact in the playoffs than Hamilton. He's already played in about 100 games this year, has nearly 200 AB's, and as you said, has some speed of his own. Plus, add in the fact that he can play all 3 outfield positions. But, as you pointed out, I think Dusty has his own little pigeon hole for him.
September 11, 201313 yr Lineup change in Cincy today from waht was posted earlier: Choo BP Votto Bruce Frazier Paul Cozart Mesoraco Leake Earlier posted lineup had BP cleaning up Paul batting 2nd.
September 11, 201313 yr Choke job. Did all that work against solid teams to get back in it, to blow any hopes of winning the division against one of the 2 worst teams in the league. :banghead:
