September 8, 201313 yr I will say this, this loss hurts. They have a very tough first five games of the year. The Bengals are very talented but will be playing other very talented teams like pats and packers and they could very easily win but could also very easily lose those games. So this Pittsburgh game comes close to a must win. They need to be at least 2 and 3 after the first 5 games. Hopefully better than that but at least have that record. All the books you write about how good their decisions have been are right except they keep an inept coach.
September 8, 201313 yr I think they have talent. But not enough to overcome the coaching and stupid things they do on the field. I'm not sure you could have enough talent to overcome the idiosy they displayed today. Talented? Sure. Give you that all day long. Agreed.
September 8, 201313 yr So the Jets beat the Bucs? How. Bucs made a bonehead play at the end of the game to give the Jets the game. Talent obviously is not enough to win NFL games.
September 8, 201313 yr All the books you write about how good their decisions have been are right except they keep an inept coach. I can't argue that very poor coaching today and its not the first time either under Lewis.
September 8, 201313 yr I can't argue that very poor coaching today and its not the first time either under Lewis No one can disagree with this. Like I said talent just can't over come that.
September 8, 201313 yr They flat gave this game away. I still think this is going to be a great season regardless especially with how down the North is. Still believe it is make or break for both Dalton and Lewis. Dalton has to show he has the ability to be an above average QB consistently and Marvin has to be able to not only get them to the playoffs but he has to actually win a game.
September 8, 201313 yr No one can disagree with this. Like I said talent just can't over come that. Hell Bird obviously disagrees about the talent. However I can't argue anything you all say about the coaching. Bad decisions then horrible job with getting right personnel on the field.
September 8, 201313 yr Zero optimism; jumping on any individual play and making it an example that the ______ is the worst; ignoring the good and revelling in the bad; etc. I am just saying there are a lot who blow up loudly on the bad stuff and get very quiet when good things happen. I sure hope you're not referring to me. One of my biggest issues in the past has been Dalton's play yet I said today in the game thread at halftime I thought he was playing great. I will point out the bad things but also point our the good things even if it is something I've harped on in the past such as Dalton.
September 8, 201313 yr Didn't the gals have some nice drives in the 1st half? Hmmm something changed at half time. What changed were the adjustments. Beats made them, the Bengals didn't.
September 8, 201313 yr What changed were the adjustments. Beats made them, the Bengals didn't. Marvin didn't make Half Time adjustments? You don't say. How that man has kept his job for 11 years is amazing.
September 8, 201313 yr From ESPN Chicago: 5. Marvin Lewis, really?: I cannot believe that a team with the second most tenured head coach in the NFL, with a defensive coordinator (Mike Zimmer) who many believe is good enough to be an NFL head coach, with a former NFL head coach on the staff (Hue Jackson) and a seasoned group of assistants would be capable of making such dumb and costly mental mistakes. The Bengals have nobody to blame but themselves for this one. From their lack of time management, to burning all three second-half timeouts with eight minutes left to play, to ridiculous personal foul penalties at critical moments of the game, the Bengals hardly resembled a team that some are predicting could advance to the Super Bowl. Championship teams are disciplined. The Bengals are not. Where is the common sense with this group?

September 8, 201313 yr Watching the SF and GB game only reminds me what 2 NFL tes are supposed to look like.
September 8, 201313 yr Michael Wilbon @RealMikeWilbon ...real story for the Bengals--once again--is being stupid...what a dumb team...mistakes, penalties and moronic behavior...
